"Picard makes a shocking discovery that will alter his life forever, & puts him on collision course with the most cunning enemy he's ever encountered. Raffi races to track a catastrophic weapon & collides with a familiar ally."

And we get golden models of the three Titans. Nice.

Another solid episode. Amanda Plummer is chewing insane amounts of scenery as a Star Trek villain, as is tradition in her family. I also liked Jack in this episode. I like the "outlaw doctor" character he has going on. It'll be interesting to see the family chit-chat now that Beverly is conscious. I don't want to say that Worf saved the Raffi subplot, because I haven't minded it so far.... but it did a lot for it.

Also, I felt Captain Shaw's "oh, goddammit" at the end of the episode. He's done. He's so done with all of this.

Now that they’ve brought Mariposa (the planet of the clones) into the story as the Eleos’s planet of registry, I’m going to assume for now that Jack is another clone of Jean-Luc. I can’t imagine Beverly would create a secret clone of Jean-Luc, but if Jack is from the same lab as Shinzon (kept in stasis as a backup, perhaps, and lost or sold during the Romulan apocalypse), then the Mariposans would be the people to take him to for treatment of his genetic flaws. A clone origin would help explain Vadic’s interest in Jack, if the idea that she’s Shinzon’s daughter pans out. And Jack’s accent is, as Worf would put it, "a little obvious".

I’d suspect Beverly of being a clone, too, except that “Up The Long Ladder” was a TNG season 2 episode. On the other hand, the Mariposans’ cloning process is very fast, so maybe. It certainly provides another possible explanation of Beverly’s “trust no-one” warning.

With the Mariposa namedrop, we’re meant to think about clones at this point, even if it turns out to be a diversion.

After finally relieving seven of duty which took a lot apparently, she just takes a security team and get herself put back on duty. I don't think this captain is very good. Seeing the starship get thrown made me laugh. I didn't like the Raffi scenes, and I hope Worf isn't gonna become the new ninja assassin replacement for Elnor. Also why are Picard and Riker not in a brig as well or confined to quarters? Picard somehow still has rank even though he is retired, which they mentioned in the previous episode. Does this show even know what happens in the episodes as they unfold?

I get that they need them on the bridge for this situation, but at some point they better address the fact that these 2 who just stole a shuttle still have free reign to walk around the ship. This just seems like more of the same, which is not good. I wonder if there is an explanation for the villain smoking, probably but it does look strange to see a human smoking in this setting. Maybe she is an alien or something and that is how she breathes or something weird, but it is strange. They did make mention that Picard has synth flesh which is also funny. Can't undo Season 1 it all still happened.

I would think that ramming a ship at a tractor beam would just make the weaker of the two ships' in the tractor get ripped apart, instead of breaking the beam. So the ship applying the tractor would pull the other ship so fast it rips it apart.

I can already see that bringing up the captain's psychological profile is probably going to eventually lead to him getting relieved of duty.

loved they used the Goldsmith 'Klingon theme' for Worf's appearance. and I smiled at the sound of the on screen communication being from Undiscovered Country (fitting that we had a Plummer in both appearances).

I suspect that Ensign Shaw’s first assignment was to the Melbourne or one of the other ships in its fleet. He’s about the right age for that. We saw with Sisko that Starfleet didn’t do enough to treat PTSD in survivors of the Wolf 359 battle, and that Sisko’s trauma boiled over when he faced Picard. Perhaps Shaw and his therapists thought he could handle working with one former Borg, but then Picard showed up and threw everything into disarray again.

I do hope Amanda Plummer had a good assistant on set, to help her avoid choking on all that scenery she is chewing.

Love Vadic already. She is going to be a fun villain, even if maybe not quite as mastermind of the whole season as the trailers lead us to believe. But, oh well, she will be very fun.

The whole conversation between Picard and Riker in the turbolift was great. Reminded me of the great bit in the GOTG game. Do the math Picard. Although, doing the math, JL Jr does look a bit old to be 22. But, then again, look at his dad. But it is nice to have a reason why a frenchman has a british accent. It is clearly genetic.

It was good to see the old school Ferengi make up again, even if it looked slightly cheaper than I got used to on DS9. Pyro as Sneed was great, pity he lost his head.

The Worf reveal got me. I did not expect him to be there. Him being in Intelligence is a bit of a surprise, but I do like pairing him with Rafi. They can bond over being bad parents. And as much as I want all the old crew, as much as possible, I am enjoying the slow build to bringing them all together.

Really enjoying Sydney LaForge so far.

As for Shaw I don't think you have to build this wide web of glup ****tos. Bigotry against XBs is nothing new. You don't necessarily have to have been at either of the 2 Borg attacks to not like the Borg, and distrust former Borg. And there are wide reasons to have him have issues in his psych eval. He definitely is old enough to have gone through the Dominion War. And him deferring to Picard once he decided to fight is probably just him knowing his limitations. I mean, wouldn't you want Picard and Riker in command to fight a supposedly superior foe.

I was so sure Amanda Plummer would just feel like a Khan ripoff based off the trailers, but she was excellent in this episode and felt completely her own thing. Looking forward to seeing where she goes.

And loved the little moment of Picard and Beverly just staring at each other silently until Picard closes his eyes and makes his decision. That’s some great acting there that doesn’t need to be on the nose with dialogue played silent instead.

That was the scene RMB plugged as the great piece of acting between two people.

All of Raffi's scenes made this episode live up to its title: disengage. Because that's what I did every time she was on screen. She dragged down the episode. It's like Fifty Shades of Grey where they keep delaying everything with scenes of the two main characters signing contracts and discussing other terms when no-one watches it for that. :o

Amanda Plummer seems like she should be playing a Romulan. She even looks like one. Or one of those bald headed Klingons from Discovery.

I thought it looked so bad ass when that other starship was TOSSED at the Titan wow

Super random comment.
When A.Plummer's caracter said J.L Picard name, she said "Picard" as a French would promounce it.

The whole Jack and Beverley thing doesn't feel right to me. The timing isn't right given Beverley's age and why would she name Jean-Luc's kid after her dead husband, Wesley's dad. Seems really messed up since Picard got Jack killed and was lusting over.his best friend's wife the whole time.

Also, Beverleu seems to be acting completely out of character to me. Not a huge fan of the idea of Jean-Luc discovering he has a secret son. Feels like a lazy way to create drama that has already been done to death in Trek. Please let there be something more to all this.
