Oh yes, and can we all please get over this trilogy crap! I am getting sick of this, everything has got to be threes! X-men has to end in three, Spidey has to end in three, blah blah blah!

There are so many stories in the Spidey arc that to end it at three is idiotic and anyone who thinks its a good idea can join the boat of morons!

you have to accept that this is the end of the spidey series as we know it. maybe there will be more in the future, but after SM3, the director and core cast are probably leaving. though it may be sad, we have to accept that. it's good that they stayed around for 3 films and were able to complete a good story arc through these 3 films.

now, after the main cast and raimi leave, do you honestly think they will recast the role of spider-man, find a new director, and pump out another sequel in 3 years? i'm not so sure. that's a recipe for disaster, and hopefully someone has learned from the WB's mistakes with the batman franchise.

though SM4 is a definite possibility, i like the idea of them ending the series with part 3, tying up all loose ends, and going out with a bang. it would be the smartest thing to do, because then, in years to come, there can a revamped series, much like the new batman movies, giving us a new take on the spider-man mythos.

plus, going with a trilogy is really the smartest thing. these 3 movies are really one complete story. that's the whole idea behind a trilogy. when you move into a 4th entry, that ruins the whole story arc of the 3 movies before it. who knows? maybe the 4th will be a great movie. but what i'm saying is...the series really can't drag on forever, as much as some want it to.

so in conclusion, ending at 3 isn't such a stupid idea, weir. it's actually pretty logical. think about what i've said. wouldn't you want 3 great movies with the same core cast and director, rather than a series with changing actors and directors? i.e. batman?

Dunst has said that she doesn't want to be defined by her role as MJ but I'm pretty sure she isn't, there are plenty of other roles coming her way. Franco said something like this but it sounds like he's dieing in this one. Spiderman 3 will make a huge profit, they can afford to throw some cash at the cast.

it's been said numerous times, even by raimi himself, that he does not want to stay on after 3. these people can't do this forever. they've devoted years of their lives to making these movies, and we're lucky they've stayed on for all 3. i'm sure they want to move on to other projects and not have this longstanding obligation anymore.

tobey...you can tell he's had enough of being spidey. they guy's practically bitter towayds the role. plus, he knows he's pretty much typecast and probably wants out.

There will be (a) death(s) in this movie
The only plausible 4th villains could be mysterio or the lizard or the shocker

The source of the six films idea appearently comes from the same woman that claimed she only wanted three films. I can't trust her word if she keeps changing it.

While there are plenty of stories left, why drag the series out? The love story between MJ and Peter would probably be stretched too far, and it'd just look like Sony's attempt to grab the most cash possible.

Seems to me if his contract is up at 3 he'd be chomping at the bit to renegotiate for the next 3, considering the last one he did had the largest budget ever. You don't think he'd want a bigger piece of that pie for himself? Or do you all think he's gonna walk away from all that for another Seabiscuit.

I mean if this thing can cost more than any movie ever and still make a heap of money you don't think they are gonna chuck as much money at it as it takes to make it happen again? It's not like the excess of riches is hurting the franchise.

As to "The 4th", take a look at the stickies here on this very site. Lets see, one more big announcement to make, and Oh, look, one of the actors still has a TBA next to what role they will be playing. I think that should be a major clue if not a dead give away. Not exactly "comic-con goes crazy" type news, so they will most likely buffer it with some images of Topher in black.

as to "how many more movies?" Traditionaly the middle part of a trilogy is the darkest. Did SM2 seem all that dark to anyone? I mean IF they were gonna stick to the tried and true trilogy method, don't you think they'd try and end on an up-note instead of on the darkest note so far?
