There's a thread like this over at the Marvel forum, so I figured it's only fair for DC to get a thread too, even if there aren't nearly as many movies to discuss. I'll start things off with a small one:

Superman III
One big change: introduce Supergirl in this movie. Make that the story. Then they could’ve done anything for the spin-off since Kara is already on earth.

Y'now this thread will be locked cuz you didn't write "Reboot" in the title, right? Just kidding!

Superman III- Brainiac as the main villian who hunts Supergirl (sole survivor of a sister planet to Kryton) after she seeks refuge on Earth. That's where she befriends Superman who becomes her mentor leading off to her spin off solo film. Maybe she could even battle a red Krytonite influenced Superman.

Superman 4-vs Bizarro and Metallo

Superman Returns-Being that Superman 3 and 4 were released still as they actually came out as (Richard Pryor,Nuclear Man,ect). On his mother's birthday,Superman returns from a long exile in space and finds earth more of a hell hole than he left it. Luthor's influence has risen him to presidency and has hired Metallo as insurance if the Man of Steel ever returned.Lois is engaged still but doesn't have a child.Brainiac is introduced ever so subtly as a subplot.

Batman 1-Have Michael Keaton get in considerably better shape, show him sparring with a martial arts student or teacher and give any indication of why he used a bat theme. Batman Forever did this pretty well but I'd rather it have been discussed within either of the first Burton films.

Batman Returns-Make Max Shreck Harvey Dent as originally intended, give Catwoman a better orgin and make the Penguin odd but not so freakish looking.

Batman Forever-Made Tommy Lee Jones or Billy Dee Williams' Two Face a tragic character with a soul divided rather than a sad immitation of the Joker, keep Edward Nigma as a disgruntled, unbalanced employee of Wayne Industries but lose the "brain drain" machine,no neon and a younger Dick Grayson.

Batman and Robin-Make Mr.Freeze's character much more like Arnold's Terminator 1 character, make Bane debut imn another sequel instead of this movie and have him not only a physical threat but a psychologic threat as well, make Poison Ivy chill on the "love dust" and look hot rather than ridiculous, keep the fall out between Batman and Robin but keep out Batgirl.

Batman- take out Batman using his horrible targeting system trying to kill the Joker with his missiles and have the Joker take down the Batwing with a super rocket launcher. One bullet shouldn't cut it.

Batman Returns
- take off those goddamn Bat-signal reflectors off the rooftops of Wayne Manor. Erase Batman's sudden "killing is wrong" speech and keep that damn mask on.

The 3rd act was my favorite part of TDK.

I wish they had condensed or got rid of the "going to Japan segment" and I still didn't believe that Two-Face wouldn't have tried to kill the Joker because of a short chat. Thats just me though.

He left it to the coin toss and the Joker got lucky.

Catwoman : CHANGE EVERYTHING and turn it into a trashy campy stinky cheese waste water treatment plant full of urine and feces female superhero movie.

Oops! That was the actual movie never mind.

TDK - Length issues. I think had the film been about 15 mins tighter it would have made for an even better movie, the problem being every time I watch it I can't figure out which sequences one could trim. The Honkers sequence is the obvious one that could have used some work, other than that, not sure.

TDK - Stretch the fall of Harvey Dent over two films. Yes he lost the love of his life and sure he was pissed and all but Dent's fall from grace was still a bit too quick for my liking.

Superman Returns - Different actress for Lois Lane. Did anyone seriously look at Bosworth and see a career minded 30-something single mother? Her child looked like her kid brother.

Superman Returns - Add some freaking action. It's all there in the bloody trailer, the rest of the film is just a lot of flying around. Superman 2 had one-tenth the budget and people where throwing buses around for crying out load.

Catwoman - Would have scrapped this from the start.

Superman III-

The supercomputer is Brainiac. He could even be some alien entity who makes contact with Gorman (who could be Milton Fine, though I know he hadn't been introduced in the comics at the time, but what if) and manipulates him into building the computer as a vessel for him to take over the world.

The evil Superman is basically Bizarro. When Clark separates from him and they fight, he gradually takes on the jagged-faced appearance of the character in the comics.

Batman Forever-

Similar to Scarecrow, Edward Nigma would be a doctor in Arkham. He's fascinated with the Batman and the freak criminals that have come out in his wake. Studying his patients, he secretly assumes the identity of the Riddler in a mad quest to create the perfect adversary for the Dark Knight. Under orders from Maroni (who stands in for Zucco in this version), he is responsible for the deaths of Dick Grayson's parents.

Harvey Dent, Gotham DA and best friend to Bruce Wayne. Through his and Batman's efforts, the Maroni crime family is brought in. This leads to the fateful courtroom incident that scars Dent's face and his psyche. Admitted to Arkham, he is treated by one Dr. Edward Nigma, who sees the broken Dent as a puzzle to be pieced together in a twisted new image. He further corrupts Dent, transforming him into Two-Face.

Batman and Robin-

I'd be fine with just Poison Ivy and Bane, the way their origins were combined in the actual movie was all right. But Bane should be intelligent like in the comics. His henchmen Bird, Zombie and Trog would be good additional foes.

Batgirl should be Gordon's daughter, and it would've given the Commissioner a more significant role in the story for once.

Catwoman-

No reason to exist. But if it has to be, I'd change the title to Vixen the Movie.

Batman Begins
-Change Dawes to Vicki Vale, a reporter helping the DA's office
-Neeson would refer to Ken W as Ubu in dialogue at the party at Wayne Manor

The Dark Knight -
-Change Thomas Schiv to Jarvis Tech
-Stevens to Bullock
-and Ramirez to Montoya

small little nods like that

Nice list! The bold printed ones I agree with. Granted, they're small irrelevent changes but satisfying just the same.

I would have no problem with Vicki Vale in the movie but I'd rather she not be in order to further segregate this franchise of Batman from the others. As for the character of Rachael Dawes, the actress playing her was more of an issue for me than her character being created for the movies. I think the role was just too big for her.

As for Montoya,Ramirez's actions seemed uncharacteristic for it to have been Montoya. Still,I would like to see Bullock and Montoya at some point but it isn't a must have.

The Dark Knight -
-Change Thomas Schiv to Jarvis Tech
While that may be a nice wink, too many people would obsess over it and say things like, "OMG, Mad hatter's gonna be in the third movie!!"

Batman Begins
-Have Julie Madison, instead of Rachel Dawes
-Give the Scarecrow a better mother-****ing costume!!

The Dark Knight
-Introduce Selina Kyle
-Go furhter with The Joker's actions, and Two Face's madness...

Catwoman
-Make the character Selina Kyle
-Have her original origin as a girl from the streets who posed as a prostitute, and later became the cat burglar

nice thread idea.

For me Superman returns shouldnt have happened.

Superman Returns:

1. Put in a super villain who can fight Superman
2. Actually have a fight scene in the movie
3. Don't make Superman a creepy stalker/dead beat dad.
4. In fact get rid of the kid altogether.
5. Make Lex a corporate villain and give him a better plan then sinking North America with a Kryptonite Island.

I posted these in an earlier thread, but I've fixed some things:

Superman II - I'd keep everything in Donner's version except for three minor changes and one very siginificant narrative one at the end: 1) actually film the whole hotel room revelation sequence with the gun; 2) Change Superman's callout to Zod at the Planet office BACK to "Would you care to step outside?"; 3) Restore the deleted footage of Zod & Co. being hauled off by Arctic Patrol, so as to preserve Supes' code against killing; and 4) leave the love-triangle subplot at Superman and Lois' uncertain embrace outside the destroyed/sunken Fortress - so that she knows he's Superman from then on out instead of just copping the whole thing out after two films, then cut to another shot that was deleted from the film of Clark running into a bully at the Planet office, THEN go back to Rocky at the diner and on to the final scene at the White House.

Superman III - I'd probably keep the Lana/Ricky subplot, only interweave his relationship with Lois into it somehow to create dramatic complications; in addition, Brad Wilson - whose life has pretty much gone up a dead-end street since graduating from Smallville High - would suspect that Clark and Superman are the same (based on some of the weird things he'd seen Clark do years earlier) and pose a nuisance to Clark. Also, Vaughn's character would have been Milton Fine, and Brainiac would have been the extraterrestrial A.I. he's allied with, under the pretense of being a new supercomputer that Fine has built; at the end it would be revealed that Fine is merely a robotic puppet of Brainiac (voiced by Vaughn). Pryor's involvement would have either been scaled back or removed completely, and as for the "dark Superman" subplot, I might have actually held off on that.

Superman IV - Luthor probably would have been brought back (retaining the character's established switch from land-lubber to war profiteer: "Your Uncle Lex has had nothing on his mind the past few years except for one thing - Destroy Superman!"), and the anti-nuke theme would probably have been present, but significantly watered-down; also, the "Nuclear Man" subplot would be somewhat inverted and the character significantly altered - Luthor's super-clone would START OUT as a wavy-haired super-hunk version and THEN degenerate into the original version that was deleted from the finished film, going on a misguided attempt to depose Superman that leads to Lenny nicknaming the poor shlub "Bizarro" rather than "Freako". Bizarro would be more the tragic Frankenstein figure here.

Superman V/Lives & Supergirl - Basically I would have waited until we were pretty much done with Superman before worrying about bringing in Supergirl (let alone a Superkid of any kind), and then combined the two properties into one movie; have Doomsday and Superman put each other into pine boxes in the first half, with Kara picking up the mantle in the second when a robotic Superman with a hidden agenda comes forward trying to pass himself off as the man resurrected.

1 minor problem, for me anyway, was why couldn't they get Katie Holmes to return for R. Dawes. It couldn't have been a money issue. I kept looking at Maggie G & thinking...this isn't right.

She was busy shooting another movie. can't remember the name, something stupid.

Really? Thanx for the info. You would think maybe they could just shoot around her scenes until she was ready.
