What with all the conspiracy theories and anti-government sentimentality going around, it wouldn't surprise me if that mentality was heightened, that because governments would remain suspicious and paranoid regarding him, the general (and I mean general, not all) population embraces him almost in spite. Kinda like "we don't trust our 'leaders' so we'll embrace someone THEY don't trust".
Nice idea - bit like Snowden now...
Kal El is a refugee here, but does nothing but good... or at least, tries too, regardless of who frames him
MOS follow up
Based 6 months after MOS
World coming to terms with Alien disclosure we are not alone.
Governments set up new space projects, using kryptonian tech as their basis defense systems are toyed with huge political debates about what the bigger picture is now.
Superman has appeared in public, at times to rescue civilians, other times to help rebuild the city, under night fall, as in the morning, large areas of rubble removed, frame work appear and bricks lined up good to go but public still unsure.
Life is moving on.
Daily Planet - Lois/Clark relationship main story how they maintain his identity, their relationship at work, what they report for planet seeing Clark integrated with society. They see the world from both sides of the superman argument.
Politically,Its all talk of more super humans as past conspiracies and urban legends are fully investigated across the globe everything is scrutinized or at least, has more weight behind it now. Atlantis, Roswell, Ancient alien theory.
Two incidents occur that make Superman take action a failed lunar mission and a confrontation against lexcorp after one of lexcorps soldiers goes rogue (Metallo).
Finally, the equilibrium is restored Superman is near fully accepted, we have seen how Clark lives in Metropolis, his relationship not only with Lois, but with staff around him (jimmy) the start of Lexs fall from grace (set up for the third film) the introduction of other characters to set up a solo justice league.
Sub plot 1
(flash backs through the journal of prof Hamilton given to lois by the conspiricist) Roswell actually happened, but times were different back then and the alien onboard was taken away and believed dead the craft was reversed engineered and modern tech is from this some governments fractions are aware of this but also not knowing one actually survived and escaped a shape shifter, he is actually alive and well, having worked his way into S.T.A.R labs, under the name of jonn jonnz only revealing his identity with Prof Hamilton. The reason for this, to develop earth technology so that he could one day find a way back home and defeat the beast Darkseid that destroyed his race.
Sub plot 2
Lex, hugely political figure is against Superman and is contracted (lexcorp) to set up a defense under the guise of research on super humans/aliens from this we get kryptonite the fuel source from the world machine is harvested, discovered to have adverse reaction on Kryptonian DNA- new metal created from it - as well as failed hybrid species using Zods DNA.
Kryptonite bullets and combat gear created Lex secretly creates false flags to further his agenda, making false claims through media manipulation that a hybrid beast lives off the coast of America, in the oceans attacking trawlers, fishermen and marine life. Hes fusing the legend of aqua man and his own hybrid creation to make out his army have caught the beast. It is displayed to the world and prompts the public to take his side.
Lex also sabotages a space mission, live on CNN, to see if the kryptonite laced shuttle will effect Superman it indeed does but also for Brice Rogers onboard, turning him into an almost zombie like state after over exposure a nasty confrontation occurs on the moon, in the craft all this is recorded on CNN, maybe not all shown due to sensitive footgae, but this is leaked to the public in an act of deception that makes matters worse for Superman.
Finally, with lexcorp producing NSA style patrols, one of the Soldiers, John Corben goes AWOL and causes devastation in Metropolis, looking and beckoning for superman to appear. Lex personally appears to save grace it back fires and when Corben takes a child hostage, Superman appears to save the day, making matters worse for Lex and helping the publics opinion of superman.
End Credits superman wating on a roof top, a growl of we need to talk is heard, Superman turns to see Batman, emerging from the shadows.
Honestly, I think the biggest hurdle is, in Snyder's own words, how do you top MOS in terms of jeopardy? Superman already saved the world from total destruction. How do you top that? Either you could have the main conflict be more personal and psychological, the way TDK upped the ante on BB, or Snyder just blows more **** up. I'd like to see some character, like Lex, really try to destroy Superman from the inside out and turn the world against him. A plot like the Everyman Project could do that. Unfortunately I think Snyder will just blow more **** up.
I strongly disagree, the new score is optimistic and inspiring. It just doesn't shout it at your face that the big hero is going to save the Fing day. The MOS theme inspires in a different way. It keeps urging Superman to go beyond himself. It urges him to push beyond his limits. It says that in the crowd is the hero and he's going to get him and everyone else to fly.
Mos though is all about how this stuff isn't easy though. CR Superman never had to deal with being different as Superman. Yeah he got bullied as a kid but his inability to get Lana and such was his own damn fault(and her poor choice in men).
The movie just says that you gotta earn trust and love and it wont just be handed to you because you can fly.
Jimmy I think shouldn't be some dork who can't stand for himself. If Jimmy was actually teen then I could buy him being a little skiddish(and hey maybe he should be an actual teen intern). But if he's like 24......no. I sorta like the earth one Jimmy who has that youth and adventureness missing from Clark and co but he's still grounded as being somewhat mature young man. This guy could hold down a job and has so much potential. The only thing in his way that he has to survive living in the DC universe.
Wow! I really am not a favorite of many of these suggestions that basically say MOS itself didn't work.
(1) the same team keeping up the quality and feel and telling the next leg of the story.
(2) Just tell a good story don't try to outdo the last film.
(3) keep up the good solid real person feel of Clark
(4) do not turn Lois into a strident ineffective obnoxious person like Margot Kidder's version for example and keep their excellent connection.
(5) If you have Luthor use him as a manipulator behind the scenes and make sure there's a villain that can challenge Superman physically while you also find a way to challenge him emotionally again.
So many movies make this mistake. Don't try to top it. Just keep up the quality and tell a good exciting story.
from what i can tell with all of these conflicting (yet sometimes great) ideas...MOS2 will be like MOS1...many will love it, and many will be disappointed because it's not what they expected or didn't have what they wanted in it lol
Why would anyone want to change the score? Hans Zimmer's is amazing.
Zimmer's score is garbage. This video is proof Williams' score could have fit spectacularly well.
Excellent post. Although now, with the Batman announcement, we'll probably be making a step towards JL. Still, it's better than an IM2 scenario.
What happened in MoS needs to be addressed, though, no doubt about it. Goyer needs to f**kin' pull it together, he messed up real big with MoS.
Oh, and ffs, keep Zimmer.
Wasn't sure where to put this and didn't think it warranted it's own thread, but who do you think will cameo (if anyone) in, say, an after/during credit scene?
