I don't think it is so much a bashing of 24 as it is promoting technical innovations within the medium. I can understand being faithful to what is known as the "cinematic effect" (of 24), but there is no real advantage to it. As I said it was a limitation at first, and has only stayed that way because no one ever bothered to change it. Color has improved, resolution has improved, sound has improved, but movement... completely stagnant since practically film was invented.

In a modern age of epic films that often involve large scale action, 24 undermines all of it. At least in comparison to what 48 and 60 bring. Because of how it easily simulates movement in our world, the possibilities of immersion are tenfold. Imagine what that can do with the right hands. As Jackson put it, it effectively removes the border of the screen and allows the viewer to look through the film's windows, as opposed to looking at it.

With the production values that come with Hollywood, it won't be long until the association with soap operas and home videos become a thing of the past.
You get two thumbs up, good sir.

:up::up:

48 frames will also treat quicker cuts harsher. There is your positive right there. Along with 3D and 48 frames abrupt cuts can't be relied on anymore. As it will break the immersion factor rather easily. So filmmakers have to go back to smooth movement, a more relaxed and deliberate editing rythim, and good staging instead of shorcuts and cheats like shaky cam.

Is anyone here from the Philly area? I was wondering if the Tuttleman theater at the Franklin Institute showed the prologue for "The Dark Knight" before "I am Legend". Does anyone remember? I called the theater today to see if they'd be showing prologue for "The Dark Knight Rises" before MI:4, and the dude on the other end of the phone had NO idea. Unfortunately, there is not another suitable theater nearby. I'm praying the show it!

The prologue might not leak, but the trailer definitely will.

Prologue...............?

Might not leak.........?

TO US!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Anybody who thinks the prologue will leak is insane. If anything.. we'll get a description and that might not even be of the prologue but of the trailer.

When Mission Impossible comes out, I'm sure we'll get a decent attempt; I remember the night when my dad got back from LA and everyone was going NUTS and leaking the prologue here, there, and everywhere in December 08.

?

The TDK prologue leaked. I distinctly remember watching it on my computer - as I had zero interest in seeing I Am Legend.

Are people serious? TDK prologue leaked on premier night of I Am Legend. Why won't TDKR prologue leak now, especially with new and improved cell phone technology out in the market?

No. I believe the only theater near Philadelphia that had a showing of The Dark Knight prologue in 07' was the IMAX Stadium 16 in King Of Prussia. That's the one I went to.

My honest thoughts exactly.

Considering how limited the release is, I imagine they'll have ushers in the theaters during the prologue making sure people aren't taping it.

I'm sure that would be the case for an IMAX theater usually, but...... after TDK and having this ONLY BEING ANOTHER MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, the ushers and managers will probably have their phones and cameras out taping too. :oldrazz:

Doubtful. Even if the prologue is limited to certain IMAX theaters, the actual highlight is MI4. That has several showings per day. It'll be treated just like any other IMAX release. All the prologue really is, is one more reel attached to the film, like any other trailer.

Had the prologue been its own event, that would be a different story. Jonah introduced the TDK prologue in the city during the virals, and warned fans about security. Couple weeks later when the prologue was with I Am Legend, no security whatsoever. Treated just like any other screening.

The hardest part of all this will just be catching the entire thing onto a cellphone seeing as how large the screen itself is.

I'm pretty sure as well that there will be a leak. Most definitely.

It's certainly possible. All the way in the back of an IMAX theater, there's ample room to stand and walk about. It has the best view of the entire screen, so with a good cell phone there's a great chance we could actually have "clear" footage.

The issue is more with the bootleggers having terrible equipment. It's been evident to me that those who are tech inclined would rather enjoy the material for themselves.

Maybe one of you guys can tape it with your fancy smart phones :o.

There should be one in every city.

That would be immensely overexpensive and not worth doing, which is why they don't do it.

Now we're demanding it. And we can't have it. That has to send a powerful blow to them. Digital IMAXes will have empty seats, and then they'll know why.

Lol. It's not like anyone would want to go see Mission Impossible 4 for any other reason than the TDKR prologue, right?

Oh wait, wrong. No it's not.

Im sure it will end up online thanks to people recording it on their phones or something, but the real question to me is, will it leak online BEFORE mission impossible's midnight release? I sure hope not.

You just can't help coming across as confrontational all the time, can you?

When I say the word LEAK I mean it surfacing on the interweb before IM4 releases.
