The Dark Knight Rises 6 Minutes of TDKR footage attached to Mission Impossible 4! - - - - Part 13

Yeah cause the character was obviously supposed to be lie James Bond, suave, smart and debonair. He totally ruined the role.

Because James Bond is the only alternative way to play an agent? No, he was just bad in this. But all blame shouldn't fall on him. He had bad script to work on anyway. And/or bad editing.

High standards. If Nolan can get great actors to do great jobs in the main roles, then people expect the rest of the acting in the films to be at least serviceable.
To me it's amplified when the extravagant extras and dialog don't exist outside of Nolan's comic book films. I find it interesting how all his characters in his "normal" projects act very natural, from the main cast to the insignificant side role. I can only surmise it's to highlight the comic book tone in an otherwise serious movie.

There was nothing really that stood out as wrong with his script in my mind. Can you be specific?

By the way, the bad guy with dogs on The Dark Knight is another good example of bad acting.

Good he died... but later than i expected. :awesome:

:awesome: Nah he was awesome!
"This is why we bring dogs!"

EDIT: Also on that clip you showed, he has some generally really good facial acting when he watches the money burn.

OR the agent was supposed to be an annoying schmuck who gets what he deserves for being a moron.

I don't know why this is so hard to believe. I mean, I've seen the trailer twice on IMAX and never once have I or anyone I was with thought that he was doing anything other than acting as his character was supposed to.

The first shot of him standing there it almost laughable because he clearly looks like a fool. Then the rest of his scenes are spent...being a fool :wow:

The fact that we're even talking about how annoying he was annoying only supports the idea that he did a fine job of acting. You really believe he was a lofty, moronic, jackass. What the character was clearly written to be.

His interrogation, yelling into the face of someone being whose head is filled of air of a rushing plane: "WHY DOES HE WEAR THE MASK!?"

Would you be afraid? No, there's something about the quality of what he's doing and how he's doing it that doesn't even register as effective, indifferent from the acting, that should be a clear indication that the character is meant to be an..."epic fail" character.

I find the Chechen to be an entertaining character. It's not really bad acting. Just something different.

^ Perfect example

End of discussion.

To me it was dumb that they wouldn't check who the people under the hoods were, but okay, I can deal with that, maybe that's CIA policy.

But where it goes wrong is when the CIA guy starts to interrogate them. Why would he do it? I would thing that CIA has people for that, and they are not the ones who transfer the prisoners? But okay, this is a movie, maybe that's how it goes, but still... And then was it jsut for his personal curiosity to ask about why Bane wears a mask? Surely CIA would have some clues as to why? Surely asking about the mask isn't the top need to know thing about Bane?

And when he realizes that they have Bane in custody, what does he do? He doesn't call it in, he just asks about the mask. And Bane is suppose to be a big shot wanted criminal/terrorist, no?

Oh. I thought you were talking about badly written dialogue, not plot holes.
Sorry for making you write that all out for nothing...

Well it's badly written dialogue in a sense that it doesn't make sense for him to ask those things. So it's bad writing, to me anyway.

I think if people watching that clip of Joker from TDK with the burning money out of context of his complete performance, they would be negative on him. Without seeing how Heath Ledger made that character, they would just complain about his voice, make-up (vs. actual white skin), etc.

I think Bane will be awesome when we see the whole movie. As much as I love spoilers because I am so excited to see the film, they don't let you appreciate a finished and edited product. Let's wait until next summer to judge this movie.

but why the CIA man keeps asking so loud to Bane, when the door is already closed?

I can understand he speaks loud when the door is open, but why he needs to ask questions so loud when he near the face of Bane?. Bane didn´t speak loud and he also has a mask.

I see the complaints with the CIA guy but it was really just the role he was playing. He had to make those funny movements and lean forward like that bc he's ON A PLANE, planes bounce around and are really loud so him leaning forward for some of his deliveries shouldn't be surprising.

He was memorable though wasn't he? I actually kind of felt bad for him bc if you think about it on the ground he thinks he's in total control and in control all the way up until he pulls off the last hood. You could tell he thought he was in trouble when he realized it was Bane and then tried to keep control of the situation after Bane began speaking, but his body language definitely changed..probably bc the pee running down his leg haha.

Then he gets punched in the throat and is unconscious at the nose of the plane as they plunge to their death from 30,000 feet up. Crazy to think about in a real world setting, these CIA guys were on a routine mission and end up getting their plane torn apart and face inevitable death moments after they think they have full control. I thought the whole thing was brilliant and the acting was right on point. Shouldn't be any complaints.

Read up on some information. Operation Early Bird is "black ops" so everything is Top Secret to avoid a "international incident"

This also would suggest that they had to keep the mask on their heads, he didn't know which one he was going to keep and because of that none of them could risk their identity, in case something happened in the meantime and they the prisoners escaped.

He only takes Bane's mask off because he suspects its Bane.

Plus there is a fear element to it, being hung out of a plane and not being able to see where you are...its scary. Ever been a rollercoaster and closed your eyes? Its as if there's no control, you don't know where you're going next and so you can't prepare your body for the next turn, in turn it all seems a little chaotic and random.

But where it goes wrong is when the CIA guy starts to interrogate them. Why would he do it? I would thing that CIA has people for that, and they are not the ones who transfer the prisoners?

because if they're part of Bane's crew why would he wait til he was back in the U.S. to ask them about Bane who could very much well be in the region?

Honestly I can't believe I'm explaining some of this stuff.

He asks about the mask and then his FIRST line to Bane is:

"If I pull this off will it kill you?"

can't you gleam the reason he asked about the mask from that second line? They're interested in how to stop Bane, they're trying to find a weakness.

And when he realizes that they have Bane in custody, what does he do? He doesn't call it in, he just asks about the mask. And Bane is suppose to be a big shot wanted criminal/terrorist, no?

Maybe because he understands the futility of it all?

"Was it always your plan to get caught" he asked slightly resigned, probably realizing this has been going more in Bane's favor than his own. He's on a small plane with one of the world's most dangerous terrorist.

Or maybe he couldn't their in a small jet flying in some unknown country.

It's a black ops mission so they didn't bring the hightech invisible jet, so it probably could only do so much.

I hope this answers some of your questions

Because he's an arrogant *****e who is up himself. He's trying to act tough in front of a guy who could punch his head off. That's his (very small) character. It can be debated whether it was portrayed correctly, but it was definitely shown.

He's scared? Trying to assert his authority? Who knows. Doesn't keep me up at night, to be honest.

Oh hey, I think Bane sounds and looks great! I have no problem with him, but I'm not getting my hopes up for this to be as good as The Dark knight. I don't even think that's possible, since my understanding is that David Goyer had something to do with the script.

This. I always quote the chechen in his accent with my brothers, it's fun and campy in the right way. As long as the primaries bring their A game it's all good, everything else is b*tchin for the sake of it.

oh you mean the same David Goyer who basically thought up all of Batman Begins?
