61 Nights of Halloween (2025 Edition)

Night 18

42. Don't Move (2024) dir. Adam Schindler & Brian Netto

Bite-Sized Review: Whether Kelsey Asbille is in fact Native American is apparently up for debate. What isn't that she's a) fine as hell and b) a damn good actor.

43. The Dead Thing (2025) dir. Elric Kane (NEW)

Bite-Sized Review: A very pretty and moody film about toxic relationships that had me guessing where it was going for a good 50 minutes. Blu Hunt is terrific and I can't believe this was her first film post-New Mutants. Hope to see a lot more of her.

Lost Highway (1997) dir. David Lynch

A 21st Century Noir Horror Film.
A graphic investigation into parallel identity crises.
A world where time is dangerously out of control.
A terrifying ride down the lost highway.

I'm convinced this is one of the best looking movies ever. The Criterion transfer is gorgeous.
Link, NB, and I love David Lynch. Snow Queen does not. :weeping:

This reminds me, I have to pick my Lynch film for the marathon. I was thinking of doing Inland Empire, Fire Walk With Me, or Lost Highway. It would be fun to spring Inland Empire on an unsuspecting friend :funny:

18th of September:
The Empty Man (2020)

empty-man-xlg.jpg

Finally, The Empty Man hits that Prisoners-but-make-it-horror craving (I'm looking at you, Weapons) and concocts a truly immersive mystery. It's dripping in atmosphere, from the malevolent soundscape to the measured pacing and its unnerving visual artistry. There's something deeply magnetic about The Empty Man, and that makes it even more disquieting. It's downright Lovecraftian.

This was god awful and easily one of the worst horror remakes I've seen since The Fog 2005 which is also an abysmal movie. I'm not even a big fan of the OG Witchboard either but it's a much better film than this and man is it sad to see just how much Chuck Russell has fallen off as a director putting out trash like this but hey I still love his early stuff.

This was low budget, cheesy fun just like this directors previous film Book of Monsters.

I can't speak to the Queen's technological skills, but no rotary phone is gonna stop me from calling the police. Me being a brown guy already stops that. Especially in a horror movie situation. I ain't dying first :o
Being a virgin ain't gonna help that. Am I right, @DKDetective ?

I guess we will never get to test that hypothesis because NB is already dead. Darth, you just murdered him.

The fact I never heard of the original or half that cast tells me bullet dodged.
