Finally, some Finnish flavor in my marathon. This is an interesting one, a 1988 slasher/comedy set in Lapland with a classic hillbilly horror scenario. A young fashion model ends up staying alone in a remote cabin, and the neighboring family starts harassing her with increasingly wicked means. The body count is small, and it doesn't have much to offer in terms of scares, but I love how director Olli Sainio and cinematographer Kari Solhberg captured the stunning but perilous rural Finland. Antti Hytti's music is fantastic, and sets the mood for a surprisingly atmospheric and stylish, if undeniably silly, rarity of a horror film.

Zenitsu, my beloved. Infinity Castle looks and sounds incredible in Dolby — breathtaking animation washing over me, enveloping sound design, and a killer score from Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina. It's quite something. Unfortunately, it also suffers from some of the worst pacing I've sat through this year. It plays like a compilation reel, there's hardly any structure to it as a film. I never had that issue with Mugen Train, but then again, that one was significantly shorter. Still, the material itself is fantastic, and such an epic presentation feels right at home in a movie theater.

Bite-Sized Review: Am I the only one who prefers the original ending?

Bite-Sized Review: My favorite De Palma film, few things were nightmare fuel to the degree the phantom's helmet was for this little Sith lord.

Bite-Sized Review: 50 years on and some films age more gracefully then others. Time Warp and Curry still slap though.

I watched Phantom of the Paradise today :highfive: Had no idea Jessica Harper would be in it

Not necessarily a horror film but it definitely has some horror elements and I really liked the acting from Dafoe and Hawkins. They didn't really stick the landing though but I did find the ending interesting.

Never heard of this one before a couple of days ago but I enjoyed it quite a bit. Britt Lower and Steve Buscemi are pretty great in this and while it's more of a dark comedy if you like more dark, comedic thrillers it's definitely one worth watching.

I liked this but I can see why it wouldn't be for everyone although I have enjoyed this directors output so far. It takes some time to really get going but once it got to that third act reveal I was pretty much sold.

I definitely didn't see the twist coming and it also helps that Harper from Gen V is super cute and likeable as the lead.

Also, there's a kill in this that's pretty damn gruesome and unexpected that I loved and it's a shame we didn't get more of that in the movie.

Cyndi Lauper on the right having to move above Tim's feet. :hehe:

Rewatched Halloween Kills for the first time. It's still not good, but I had more fun watching it than the first time. The mob rushing inside the hospital is hilariously over the top, straight out of a Scary Movie.

Now.

Tonight I rewatch Halloween Ends.
Which...
I actually really really liked.

Is it blasphemy? I don't know.
