11. Clue (1985)
Best way to start off October is with a true classic. One of the most quotable movies, up there with other 80's classics like Princess Bride for me. Never gets old.
12. Y2K (2024)
I was promised a zany stoner horror comedy and that is not what I got.

Rachel Zegler and Julian Dennison are both perfect, but
the former is stuck with a bland character and Dennison is killed off inexcusably early. The main problem here though is that Mooney has taken a comedy pitch and made a painfully unfunny movie, mixing in awkward attempts at commentary on everything from teen stereotypes to technology dependency. Every time it seems like it's about to get entertaining, it grinds to the halt for a clumsy attempt at a Serious Dramatic Moment. Big disappointment.
13. Heart Eyes (2025)
Thank goodness for Mason Gooding and Olivia Holt, because with lesser leads this would have ended up in the Hall of Shame for bad movies that waste amazing killer designs. The script is flimsy - the kills are too few and far between and the third act is a mess - but the main "couple" fully sell it. Gooding and Holt are very entertaining, and their comic instincts vibe well with Ruben's style, making it easy to root for them. All in all, it's a shame it underperformed, because I'd totally be down for a series of these. Anything to save Gooding from the sinking ship of the Scream franchise.
14. Time Cut (2024)
Big "Antz" vibe from this one, like someone at Netflix overheard the vague premise of Totally Killer and stole it for their afternoon pitch. Some decent performances from the young cast save it from being a total wash, but there's not much going on here. No actual engagement with early 2000's culture other than needle drops, and the killer is barely present. Just totally forgettable stuff from the streaming content farm.
