61 Nights of Halloween (2025 Edition)

I've seen a good deal of them, even if the original is the only one I've seen in full not counting Freddy vs. Jason or the remake. I was only going to do one series marathon this Halloween but I'm sure there's room for one more with the F13 series.
Any excuse to watch Jason Takes Manhattan is a good one.

Shock Waves (1977)

Every once in a while, there comes a movie that pushes all the right buttons for me. This is one of those. A ghost ship, a mysterious island, rainy/creepy atmosphere, an abandoned mansion, a creepy old man, undead nazis, people trapped in danger. THIS IS GREAT. Low budget, it could've been better, but I loved it.

Bite-Sized Review: Such a pleasant film about bad people starring the scream Queen and King of the 21st century.

99. The Woman in Cabin 10 (2025) dir. Simon Stone (NEW)

Bite-Sized Review: Keira is very pretty. Otherwise... yeah.

Bite-Sized Review: In a year full of horror gems, this one from Feb is still my favorite.

Started off the day watching Wes Craven's New Nightmare and thus finishing up the Elm Street leg of the marathon.

Holy meta storytelling! I had an idea that's what this movie was about and it was interesting to see something like this made 30 years ago before that kind of thing was more common. Based on the box office, maybe this was a Marty McFly "I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet but your kids are gonna love it" type of thing.

The movie itself is good in its own standalone way. Third best behind the OG and Dream Warriors. I liked that Wes was able to revisit the franchise and bring it somewhat back to basics and more serious but I'm not gonna lie, I do love funny Freddy so I didn't mind his one-liners in the franchise.

I'll tell you what I am interested in watching too is this doc:

Anyone seen it?

This is a strictly Englund Freddy Halloween here. :o

I'd actually sooner watch the Friday the 13th remake because at least that one had a few fun moments. But I could also be misremembering it because I saw that one in a packed theater opening night when it came out which probably made the experience better than it was. I also did the same thing with the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. Packed theater but the crowd was not into it, except for the final shot which was a pretty good jump scare.

Also @Link you're not done with Friday the 13th until you watched:

I could imagine some crazy studio buying up the IPs for most of 80's slashers and build some convoluted horror cinematic universe.
I started with the remake! That was the first film of my 2023 marathon, and I've slowly watched them with a friend. Friday the 13th is my big franchise next year, so I'll do them all during the marathon (with the same friend I watched all the Elm Street films last year and Halloween this year.)

I always wanted NetherRealm to do something like that for real, not just as Mortal Kombat DLC. No clue what the story mode would look like, though :funny:

I wish I knew enough to make like a Simple/Casual Mode which is like Super Smash Bros. and Normal Mode which is more like a traditional fighter.

I've thought about what a crossover movie with Freddy, Jason, Michael Myers, Chucky, etc. would be like for years and the best I can come up with is to make it like the Avengers, except Samuel L. Jackson is assembling them to stop teenagers from having sex. :o

They're defeated by 5 teens and their dog. :o
