Bite-Sized Review: The virgin Johnny Depp vs. the Chad Freddy Kreuger.

****

Bite-Sized Review: My personal favorite of the Freddy flicks. A unique premise that at the same time feels like the most natural sequel to the first film. It has stakes, something missing from most of these flicks. Add the creative and fun kills, and you have yourself a very good time.

***3/4

129. Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994) dir. Wes Craven

Bite-Sized Review: The Nancy trilogy is a top 5 horror trilogy.

***3/4

I got the Nightmare on Elm Street remake out of the way first because I had to end the day with Friday the 13th (2009). This one isn't all that good but I'd actually consider it to be one of the better slasher remakes, if only because it does its own thing and doesn't try to go beat for beat copying any particular storyline. It's kind of a mashup of the early films in the series with an oversexed Michael Bay coat of paint. I especially liked that Jason had the burlap sack on his head for a bit before donning the iconic hockey mask.

Now I can really say I'm done with the Jason and Freddy movies, but I'm still curious to check out the comprehensive documentaries on both series.
Kris shouldve been the hero in Nightmare remake. They made her better than Nancy

29. The Prophecy (1995)

Casey Jones vs Max Schreck? Sign me up. Christopher Walken gives an amazing performance, as expected. Really hits some things I love. Biblical mythology is my jam. Bonus Aragorn debut in a scene chewing performance as Satan.

30. The Prophecy II (1998)

Angels meets the Terminator, sure, why not. Besides, more Walken as Gabriel is never a bad thing. Plus, he plays off Brittany Murphy amazingly well.

Freaks (1932) dir. Tod Browning

A really good movie, but I can't help but wonder what Browning's original 90-minute cut was like... And I also just realized Angeleno is the Master of Master Blaster from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome!

The Prophecy scared the hell out of me as a kid. What Sunday school will do to ya. :funny:

I'm amidst another messed-up double feature. We just watched Hellraiser: Revelations, and I'm speechless. The way this franchise fell off a cliff immediately after going to space (in the fourth installment out of eleven!) needs to be studied. Just one more to go (we started with the reboot, Lily! :o), and I'm done with this wretched franchise.

What if I said Hellraiser: Inferno is Scott Derrickson's best movie? :o
