According to a new study released earlier this week by Nielsen Entertainment in their third annual Active Gamer Benchmark Study, women make up 64% of North America's 117 million online gamers - and we aren't lying. The study did not reveal any particular genre or game type that were being played by women, but it is expected that online browser games such as Zuma on various flash websites made up a large proportion of the female online gamers. Although many traditional online games such as Halo or CounterStrike were primarily aimed towards males, the rise of RPGs and large-scale online titles such as World of Warcraft appear to have attracted more female gamers to the online scene.

Another surprising result from the latest study is the amount of older gamers that are also interested in online gaming. As you'd expect, the teenage market dominates any other age group in numbers, but the study does say that more than 15 million gamers (about 8%) are actually at least 45 years old. The study involved 2,200 gamers described as "active" who were 13 years or older and owned a gaming device and played games at least once a week.

More women should play Call of Duty 2, then maybe i would win a few rounds

May or may not be true. I play City of Heroes, and sometimes it's better to pretend you're a girl because people treat you better.

Yeah, yeah, we all know females like to play games. :cmad: [/bitter]

Online games are fun. I used to play world of warcraft, ffxi and a few other online rpgs. Now I just play counterstrike or civ4 every now and then.

they should make a distiction between single player games hosted online and games with multiplayer online componants really.

My roommate's girlfriend makes male characters to avoid all the soppy geeks hitting on her all the time.
So, if you're in Everquest, or WOW, I'd advise flirting with the big muscly Paladin dudes, etc.

best not to flirt on the internet at all with any kind of seriousness. works for some aparently tho.

It's true. And I said "SOMETIMES", my main characters are males, but my female characters get items bought for them, or random cash donations.

A bit off topic:

I want to have cybernetic parts fused with my body.

I added a chick to my XBL, then faced her in Call of Duty 2. She kicked my ass. Again and again. I took her off my friend's list. :csad:

I always get pwned on those online games....
Epsecially by my own g/f....:csad:

Most female characters you see online are usually male. And if they do a "hehehe" type laugh, they're DEFINITELY male. Yes, this is from past experience.
