Usually Smallville is dead on with their casting. This time I'm not to sure on who they picked to play Maxima. She's cute but I think they could have gotten a more exotic lookin woman to play the part, since Maxima's suppose to be this drop dead gorgeous queen who can not find an equally suitable mate. But you never know, she might do a really good job when the episode airs? I'll give her a chance. We'll just have to wait two weeks to see.

The Cw's Official Description for "Instinct"

DC COMICS CHARACTER MAXIMA SETS HER SIGHTS ON CLARK — Tess (Cassidy Freeman) and her team perform tests on Clark’s (Tom Welling) crystal that she had retrieved from the arctic, causing it to send a beam of light into the universe. This triggers the arrival of Maxima (guest star Charlotte Sullivan), a queen from the planet Almerac, who is searching for her soulmate, who she believes sent the signal. Unfortunately, Maxima’s power is too great for mortal men and her kiss kills them. The seductive Maxima arrives in Metropolis and begins her search, starting with Jimmy (Aaron Ashmore).

<Monty Burns voice>Sounds excellent.</MBv> I like that they're using the crystal right away instead of putting it aside for lots of eps. Would love to know what's in the signal as Maxima saw it! Did the crystal send pictures of Clark? Voice prints? Or just coordinates?

That green outfit makes her looks a little too similar to Poison Ivy

I was thinking the same thing. Also, she looks very young and slight there, much more so than in the photos on her own website (or whatever that site was a few posts back that had photos of her in different outfits & hairdos).

she's actually not a small woman. She's listed as 5' 8" which is pretty tall.

- Tess shows Clark the crystal shield and asks if he has any idea what it means.
- Clark offers to find a way to cure Chloe of Brainiac's "infection."

Clark, as soon as Tess looks away: [superspeeds to the Arctic and throws the crystal, recreating the Fortress *if* Lex hasn't mucked with the crystal in some way]

Nice pics. I wish Maxima was hotter. Seeing her beauty in the comics over the years would make you hope for a really hot Maxima. The girl is cute, I just don't see Maxima in her.

But I could be wrong. I guess she might be a great actress and maybe even grow on me. But judging by first impressions. She just doesn't do it for me.
