I so agree with this statement.
Look, maybe Bush did recieve a memo saying Bin Laden was planning to attack the U.S. Yet if he did take action immediately there would be no idea when and where Al Quada would attack. Plus the fact that no one knew how large a scale this attack could be. So your telling me that Bush deliberately wanted this attack to happen? It's so easy for others to criticize after the events had happened. Try putting yourself in the president's shoes. If you had very vague info on an attack would you take action? Chances are most of you wouldn't and don't lie. The reason, if it turns out the information is false you have mud in your face and america's perspective is changed.
Think about wars that happened in American history. Did we ever rarely declare war without something sparking it? say an attack on american soil? 9/11 was that reason why we're in Iraq. Not because Bush used the 9/11 attack to his advantage, but to learn a mistake from it. What he was trying to prove was that you cannot turn down any information given to the US about a foreign threat. So this is where Iraq comes in. 9/11 happened and we've chased Bin Laden for about 2 or something years now. Uh-oh, we have some information that Iraq may be a posable threat for weapons of mass destruction. Can I risk another attack on the US or on perhaphs a greater scale? No, it's too much of a risk to make the same mistake twice. Bush would have been called weak had he not taken action.
So you decide, what should Bush have done to please everyone? Without knowing what we do now.
