9.13 - Warrior - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

yea that kids drawing was such a classic lol moment there and the whole S thing too. And yea i bet they made it more xena and just colored ww so they wouldnt get in trouble with dc over ww. and i agree it was a fun filled episode. And i think allison did alot better this time as a director then her first time.

Nobody caught the other little tidbit...

At the beginning when Chloe is talking to Lois. She gets a text from Ollie.

"Target aquired. Maniac with boomerangs...Hooray"

A nod to Captain Boomerang. Who is a Flash villain. But, whatever.

One of the worst episodes of the season, they even wasted FX money on WA flying... :whatever: the story was kind of lame, I expected better from BQM, easily his worst episode as a writer. "Persuasion" seems promising though. :word:

personally i thought this was a great episode. it had a ton of cool homages: superman drawing, shirt rip, some flying (of course i wish it were clark), and most of all clark acting like superman. i really enjoyed clark being the blur in the beginning of the episode. the comic convention was great throughout. lois as wonder woman, check; and it was fun seeing clarks reaction to seeing the red blue blurr, although noone should know how he really looks, but it's still fun to see.

i thought it was interesting how the cape worn by warrior angel was red as a good guy and really dark dark red as bad warrior angel. reminded me of superman III, and in a good way lol. overall really good episode. clarks save of chloe was good and his speech at the end really felt like he was finally superman without the suit lol. the only thing i didnt care for was the fact that clark didnt stop warrior angel. having zatanna in it was good because she's hot, but it would have been nice to see clark defeat someone without the help of someone else.

Ok tonight's new eisode was a nice jab at comic books and fantasy in classic smallville style. First it was written by bryan Q miller, and it was Allison Mack's Second attempt at directing. Also featured the return of zatanna. So first off i got to say it turned out to be a nice fun filled episode, i enjoyed it alot.

First off with writing, i think BQM put in another good script. I have enjoyed his episodes he has written so far in the show's history. He has a good handle at lois and clark, and wasnt bad with chloe in tonight's episode. Also doesnt hurt he also now writes comics for DC, most recently teen titans and batgirl if i recall. The plot was fun. Yes a rip off on shazam/captain marvel. But it looks like they wanted to do the character but of course smallville's problems getting certain rights doesnt always work out.

So changing it into the in show warrior angel character was a nice substitute. Also it was a nice explaination that it was an original not released warrior angel comic. Like if any of you know that siegel and shuster had an original story about superman being a bad guy before we got what became the superman of today.

The episode was nice jab at comic cons and costume heroes and the fantasy world about them. The kid had real fun being a hero and i thought his powers looked good even though they were just clark's powers effects. I feel for the kid when we learned of his bad pass. Being a kid is rough at times getting picked on and all that.

So when he was a hero it was fun, and he had some nice scenes with chloe, and i liked the video game playing scene and when he learned he could fly, and the flying scene wasnt that bad. Also the speech to the kid bullies was nicely done.

Also zatanna was pretty good here. she was smoking hot again man i like her outfit she rockes it well. Though lois didnt like taking her clark lol. Jealous jealous lois. Also the subplot of zatara cursing things when he was younger was an interesting thing to play with. The whole searching for the comic scene was nicely played with clark and zatanna. Also the whole kiss scene wasnt that big of a deal like some was worrying.

It was just zatanna showing clark he needs to have a little fantasy from time to time. Spending time just as a hero and no down time will make you not enjoy life that much. so it was nice for her to show clark to live a little and you can still be a hero too.

There wasnt to much with ollie tonight but he had a nice scene with lois and clark, and the end scene with chloe. Now i dont know what to think of the possible chloe and ollie relationship. I am hoping its more of just a fling/him showing her that she could love someone again. Though it was a nice scene at the end with him showing her how to shoot his bow. So will be interesting to see what goes there.

I thought when the kid turned into warrior angel and then the evil guy was pulled off pretty good. The effects were not that bad. Also how his powers were shown was pretty good. Also i liked the change he had in his looks when he went evil. As a kid he was ok the typical kid and all that. As a kid in adult body i thought the adult actor played the role pretty nice. He had the wonder and charm of a kid if this really did happen to a kid. Also the end scene with clark and the kid in the barn was nice talking about not needing to be a hero and to always look inside for the goodness of all. Also i loved his drawing of the blur.

Now as for allison's in the director's chair tonight. I think she handled things alot better this time then last year with power. It felt like a more typical smallville episode which was nice. Not to artisy like she did last year. But she had some good visuals and camera angles and blocking in scenes. So i am glad she had another go at the director's chair. I think she did alot better this go around.

Acting wise i think everyone was pretty good. Tom was well as always i loved seeing the blur in the day for once and the lois and clark scenes were classic as always. Erica was pretty good as always as lois. she has some nice scenes and played the jealous role well. Justin didnt have much and played his two scenes pretty well. Its good that ollie isnt dark and moody much any more. As for allison it wasnt a bad episode for her. It was a good time for her to get out of watchtower and have a little bit of a life. Also to show her that she could find romance again is a good thing for the character.

The comic con setting was very cool seeing all the comic and fantasy things. It was funny to see a classic green arrow like a few times, a guy in a red/blue outfit like clark used to wear, and lois as a stormtropper and then the xena/wonderwoman outfit was fun to see. she rocked it well. It was a fun setting for an episode and i think they handled the whole comic con feel well. So it was a nice nod out to the many many fans of the show and comics in general.

So all in all a fun light hearted episode. I enjoyed it alot. Its always good to have episodes like this from time to time to break up the dark more serious episodes. Also its good to have light episodes to show superman is a light character and not a dark character. So it might have not been the best episode this season, i still think it was a good episode. Also next week should be another fun filled episode. Cant wait to see how that turns out.

I couldnt stand Allison as the director. I thought that she gave Chloe too much. You can see that Chloe has a thing for guys that are more than anyone. Clark the good superhero, Davis/ Doomsday the EMT/ Monster/ Stalker, Cop, Jimmy, Ollie. She goes off and tries to help the kid, by herself, fully knowing that she has no chance. The last three episodes she says she knows heroes, she called herself a hero, says she can save heroes. She's not a hero. Get over it. Leave the show Allison. Kill her off. I dont care. Just get rid of her.

Loved Clark in this ep. He really seemed like Superman in the beginning throwing the can at the bad guy to stop him. It seemed like something Superman would do. Loved his reaction to all of Lois' undercover outfits, though I'm surprised he didn't really act like he remembered the red leather and USA Stripper. He and Zatanna make a great team, and I'm happy to learn that he was able to shake off her spell. It's nice to know that even though he's vulnerable to magic that he can shake off its affects. Also thought he was flying at the end to save Chloe (wish he'd let her drop) but then figured out he was just superjumping.

Zatanna was great as always. Smallville did a really good job picking out the actress to play her as she looks and acts just like her, not to mention that she speaks the spells great. Did I mention she was really hot.

Lois was hilarious as a stormtropper, and looked smokin as an Amazon. I loved that both her and Clark are trying to take their relationship slow and do things right as they both know their the one for each other. Also her acting jealous of Zatanna was great, yet also was her knowledge that Clark kissed Zatanna and didnt call him on it. Thats what I love about her and not Lana. Lana would have *****ed him out if he had done it. Lois, nope, she waits for him to come clean makes a sly remark and things are fine.

Over all not the best ep, though wasnt really expecting it, especially with who the director was. But it was still pretty good.

yea overall it did end up being a fun episode. But as i said i think allison did much better this time then her first.

You do realize the Director doesn't write the episode, right?

I do, but the director does decide how the characters act and are portrayed.

You are going to blame Allison one way or another aren't you?

I always blame the director or actor or whoever makes a movie/ ep suck. In this case she is both. Before anyone asks, yes I don't like Chloe/ Allison. But thats not why I'm saying that she ruined the ep. I just dont think that she is fit for a job as a director. Tom on the other hand is great, he gets it. Allison in my opinion doesnt. I'd be saying the same thing of any other director. And yes I know that she didnt write it. But still directors have a role in how things look and appear. And to me it appeared that she was trying to make herself look good. I dont know, maybe I have a critical eye or something.

I cant recall. Think it was actually based more off of Xena but they colored it like WW and tossed in the head piece as a nod to the fans.

personally i thought she directed better this time then last time. Also if any one can get a good screencap of the red blue blur drawing form the kid that would be great.

the episode was pretty boring. Nothing much exciting happened.

ok was just over at ksite boards and there is a poster there claiming tonight was the last time we seen the barn/loft set and it has been torn down. I highly doubt they would tear down that set. its one of their key sets like the kent house, luthor mansion rooms, watchtower, DP floors, etc.... main sets. So i dont see why that would happen to that set. I would hope it isnt gone. Maybe if any one has a twitter page could go asking around some of the SV folks twitter pages maybe we could get an answer on it.

Humorous episode. I liked when Clark threw the can at the guy, haha.

WOW, I'm sorry but I am utterly disappointed in this episode. I get the light-hearted, fun episodes of Smallville ("Committed", "Hex"), this was so campy to the point where I couldn't take this episode seriously in anyway.

The Good:

-Clark as the Blur throwing the can at the criminal (priceless!)

-The throwback to all of Lois' old costumes.

-The last scene between Clark and Lois (Again, showing how mature their relationship is.)

The Suckfest:

-Zatanna-What a pointless return! She only returned to make out with Clark. WTF!?

-Clark once again made to look like an idiot and have to apologize to Lois.

-Lois randomly makes out with a Daily Planet employee for payback? WTF!?

-Once again, Chloe is becoming more grating with each episode. Instead of telling Clark and Zatanna about "the new hero", she decides to handle it on her own...and almost gets killed...again!! Makes perfect sense!

-The whole Warrior Angel/Devilicus plot had to be the cheesiest thing I've ever seen on Smallville. I swear my screen was turning yellow!

-Alec's whole backstory was so after school special...oh poor me, I get bullied, my life sucks....Get a life kid!?

-Did anyone want to shot themselves during the whole "I can fly!/lets make a replica of the Superman/Lois flight sequence with Chloe/WarriorAngel" seuqence?

-I swear the number of people flying before Clark on this show is ridiculous and a joke by now.

-Did Clark really just reveal his secret to a little kid and not tell him to keep his secret. He's a little kid, he'll probably tell his whole school just to be popular and keep the bullies away.

-The use of the classic shirt rip was so misplaced in this episode it's not even funny.

-The confrontation at the end was so laugable, I can't even begin. Why not let Chloe fall to her doom, I ask you!

-Why was Oliver in this episode again? Looked like Justin told the writers he needed his paycheck sooner and pulled a pointless cameo.

-Lastly, that not so subtle sexual tension bow and arrow scene with Chloe and Oliver...Oh God Hell us all! What are these writers thinking?

All I can say is: What the Hell Byran Q. Miller? Worst episode this season!

Decent episode, I enjoyed it mostly. It was a filler episode(based on the lack of major arc movement, but hey by that logic Absolute Justice would be too) but it was still very fun.

I wouldn't call it the worst episode of the season, but I did enjoy it more than the Roulette episode (which wasn't awful, just not as good as other episodes). Honestly this season has been the best imo. I haven't seen a single episode that makes me role my eyes

yea the whole season has been pretty constitant through out. I havent hated an episode flat out like i have with past seasons. Sure not the best of the season, but not the wrost, and there was alot of fun/good stuff in the episode.

I liked this episode a lot actually. It was very fun. For some reason, I couldn't stop laughing after the can-to-the-head bit. Very cute.

And did anyone else mark out a bit when Chloe and Swift were playing on Natal? In the Smallville universe, it's apparently been released for the 360 already. :funny:

well i think microsoft has been a sponsor for this season. being the computers at watch tower are microsoft brand and all that.

Also from Ksite poster Bouroux:
Warrior screentime

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 9-13

Clark: 22m, 19s
Chloe: 15m, 00s
Lois: 11m, 05s
Oliver: 2m, 37s
Tess: 0m, 0s
Zod: 0m, 0s

Zatanna: 10m, 14s
Alec: 5m, 00s
Warrior Angel: 10m, 25s

Pretty fair times between all, clark the most, ollie the least due to his two scenes, then lois/chloe/alec-steven/zatanna fair amount. Also it is looking like if zod doesnt miss the remaining episodes he will only be in 15, i guess callum didnt have a 16 episode contract like he stated awhile ago. As for Tess she has been in 8 episodes so far. And lois we know is only missing 2 more and most figure its 19 and 20.
