World 90's X-men Animated Series finally being released on DVD!

Cable and Cyclops are missing legs on Vol 2, and Cyclops appears to be piggybacking on Rogue on Vol 1.

^ LOL

That cover is quite weak. It would've been a big bonus had they gotten one of the comic artists to render out a cover for this series. Jim Lee cover anyone?

Hooray! About damn time.

As for the covers, it says they are just early concept art, I'm sure it will look much better, and everyone will have their legs on the real deal. But Cyke will still be piggybacking Rogue.

omg this is so amzing and makes me soooo happy!

but i hate the cover for the second one! jubilee is the only decent looking one. and thats prolly cuz shes tiny and i cant see her very well.

but im soo excited!

I hope this bodes well for Spider-Man TAS and the others coming to DVD.

Between these and the Blu-ray releases of X-Men and X2, it looks like I'll be buying a lot of X-Men DVDs come April. As others have said, the packaging is weak. Hopefully, it's temporary. Still, it's nice to see the Animated Series finally coming to DVD.

I dont get all the complaining about the cover. The cover really doesnt mean **** to me. I'm more concerned with content. If all season one episodes are packed in volume 1, I'll be so damn happy that the cover could literally be the words "X-Men" scribbled in pencil on a sheet of binder paper. If Disney screws with the episodes and gyps us, then I'll be so pissed off that the cover still wont matter.

Would I like a cool looking cover? Sure... but I'm not gonna let it get me down if it is a potentially great DVD set.

hmmm, I'm cautiously optimistic. I have all those disney afternoon dvds and they're an mixed bag. Gargoyles had great sets but they failed to put out the final box set and the other ones were episode onlys with weak transfers that also didn't finish out. As long as they're season sets(and if I were an betting man, the descriptions and looks of them seem to echo Lionsgate's release of the 1987 tmnt toons) of some kind, I'll get them but my expectations of them from an extras perspective are low.

I was hoping for something more akin to WB's DCU releases.

Two disc sets seems kinda weak, but I guess that's about 15 eps per set? Which ain't too bad. After all, it's coming, and that's the most important thing.

Be grateful you're not getting them in one disc sets, seven episodes in each, like we're getting in the UK.

They reatail $16.99 each on Amazon.com, no other details right now.

Finally...about time...

Finally...about time...

I dont see what took them so damn long... they've had three perfect opportunities to release these over the past nine years and yet they choose the time when a Wolverine solo movie comes out. Go figure.

The Spider-Man and X-Men trilogies pulled in over $1.6 billion domestically combined in over 7 years. Its easy money.

If they split the series up into 13 episode volumes that would create 6 sets. The last set would only have 11 episodes but they could include the 2 episode crossover with Spider-Man to bump it up to 13.

I read this on another forum and freaked. (I probably would've screamed if it hadn't been so late last night.) I'm so happy! Had to get today online and make sure I hadn't dreamed it up. Heheh.

Man, I can't wait. April won't get here soon enough for me.

I didn't grow up with it like most fans, but I did get into it when it was on ABC Family channel years ago and I was already a full fledged X-geek. Great show. Can't wait to
see it again.

^ thats rare and most people who get into it later, dont like it. so props for that.

wow great news. and to think for the past 15 yrs I've been saving or looking for VHS copies to convert to DVD. Now I wont have to. But I will have to make my own cover art, that one looks hideous.

btw, I hope volume one means all 13 eps of season one.

I hope it means more than that. The minute count is quite high--I hope they have all five seasons on these two volumes.

on 4 discs? I doubt it. 2 discs for volume one is plenty of room for the complete first season and a few extras.

I have the first 19 episodes over three DVDs (UK region 2 release). They come with episode booklets, trailers for Jetix and Wolverine & the X-Men and short examples of how they have digitally improved the cartoon for DVD.

I wouldn't get too carried away with what extras you'd get.
