Yup... set in Nolan's universe, bridging the end of "Batman Begins" into the beginning of "The Dark Knight". I should know... I wrote, produced and directed it! Shot on location in Chicago using some of the same locations as "Batman Begins", it's called:

"The Dark Knight Project"

Documenting the adventures of Gotham High School students Heather Nolan and Mikey Bale, who want to be the first people in Gotham to get real video of Batman in action, and what happens when their wish comes true...

It gives new meaning to that kid's song with the verse "and the Joker got awaaaay!"

Check out Heather and Mikey's Myspace page at:

And check out the free online world premiere July 15th... only at:

Then get even more pumped to see "The Dark Knight" in theaters on July 18th!

Made by fans for the fans and dedicated to Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale, and the entire cast and crew of "The Dark Knight".

Extensive behind the scenes photos here.

Happy Fourth and bats all for now!

Hmm this is a pretty cool idea, love to see this

wow looks like a pretty big production for an indie project. awesome, i very much look forward to it!

I dont get it, is it officially related to TDK or is this an entirely 100% fan film not endorsed by WB/DC? If so how did you manage to get the uniforms and the GPD car?

sounds pretty awesome  can't wait to check it out. i hope i remember =D

The same way Sandy Collora got Alien and Predator costumes for his fan-film "Batman: Dead End"... a whole lot of perseverance and passion! ;-) Remember, I'm the same guy who managed to get onto the LaSalle Street location and get the first video of Christian Bale in costume when they were filming the Batpod vs. Joker semi truck confrontation here in Chicago last year and put it on YouTube (link HERE)

Seriously though... as a costume and prop collector, and someone who works in the Chicago production community... it wasn't hard to track down the vendor that rented WB the squad cars (he actually owns the semi-cab that Heath Ledger drove at the end of the film on LaSalle Street...) WB didn't own the cars, they were all rentals and tagged by the art department with GPD markings. Uniforms are generic off the rack police stuff, with Gotham PD patches made from scans of the real patches found online... the clown masks are the Rubies ones that were luckily released for sale online a month ago (otherwise I'd have had to go with my backups, which were old men masks painted white with similar "war paint" markings)... as for the batsuit, putting a complete and authentic one together is just a matter of frequenting the right online costuming boards for custom made stuff by talented guys sculpting and casting stuff that rivals what comes out of WB's costume department.

And for a taste of what's to come July 15th... check out this teaser clip on Youtube :woot:

"The Dark Knight Project" Teaser

Enjoy-

I'm actually very impressed! It looks good! My only suggestion to you is, indoors give it the whole gold toned feeling like BB and outside the blue tone like in TDK.

EDIT: Change the sound effects for the hits, it sounds like an 80's TV Sow and make the background music louder.

The teaser does not feature the final sound mix. We're doing that this week, I also changed the music since getting our hands on an advance copy of "The Dark Knight" soundtrack today ;-) So the fight scene as well as the rest of the film will have professional sound design also.

If you want hand with a different soundtrack let me know because I can mix TDK and BB so it's something new and in between.

Well done, I liked it. The girl who played heather wasn't a good actress though...

How do 16 year old girls in your family or surrounding community behave?

The actress who portrayed Heather was spot on to what kids in her age group are like.

I would have to disagree with this. No offense or anything. I liked the film but Heather was just a bad character. I don't know maybe she was just badly written. I just graduated high school and I don't think she acts like a common 16 year old girl.

Opinions and experiences are subjective...

She acts like a lot of ambitious teenage girls overcompensating for attention and that was how her character was written...

She's a great actress with a slew of professional credits behind her, that's why I cast her.

That's the great thing about this world.

But I still disagree with you.

I am 16 man. And I'm an actor. She's not good.

But the rest was. Take the gold and run, don't beg for platinum. ;)

I'm not begging for gold or platinum. But I am loyal to people who I feel merit the loyalty and praise and I'm not going to stand by and let a lot of people tear down a talented person's good work.

Different strokes my friend different strokes. Because you thought was good doesn't mean Asteroid or myself have to think she was. I'm pretty sure you won't convince either of us she was a good actress in your film. Maybe it was the writing? I don't know. But we're entitled to our opinions as you are. But your's is most likely a little biased.
