A Batman Cinematic Universe?

While there is story potential in an older Batman, trying to expand a universe off of that concept seems ass-backwards.

I remember when Affleck's casting was announced and they went into the whole "This is an older, weary Batman" thing, thinking yeah it's interesting take on it but have they really thought this through...

I guess it's one of the benefits of making Batman so old. It's not hard to say that he's had protégé's before (Gordon even hinted at it in the JL trailer in fact).

...this is how they can fix The Snyderverse. Just slowly turn tail towards it and just build a Batman based film universe. I'll take numerous Batman side character films over Cyborg, Aquaman, and what have you.

Except that they have plenty of Non-Bat films in the works as well. It's just that Batman has an unusually large extended supporting cast, and many of them are pretty well-known to the public in their own right.

I mean most people at least have heard of Batgirl, and Robin, and Catwoman, etc.

You know, for all the people whining about too many Batman projects...Batman mythos characters play a major role in the DC Comics universe, too.

It's not just cinema. Batman and his allies are all over the DC Comics universe. It's part of the larger mythology.

Said it elsewhere but it's smart, I forsee a few years even 2 Batman world centric movies and 1 other, other years been 1 Batman world centric films and 1 or 2 others and even a 1-1 situation with maybe a third film been another JL film.

Let's have a series of solo movies for Bruce, Dick, Jason & Babs, with a team-up movie later down the line, featuring an overarching villain across the whole series like The Court Of Owls.

Think about it. Batman has many of the best villains DC has to offer. He's got like 20+ villains that deserve movie treatment. It's so much easier to do all these villains when you've got multiple Gotham centric franchises. There isn't a downside to this, we're going to get all the villains we've been wanting.

Meh... I will throw in the towel if DC only decides to only focus on Batman related characters. It's annoying because his "small" universe already dominates the comics, cartoons, video games and now the movies!! The only safe space DC fans (not Batman fanboys) have is the CW shows.

Absolutely. Some side characters, side villains have more popularity not just among comic book fans but GA as well.

Anything is better then just strictly Batman movies tbh. If we have to get more Bat movies then it might as well be centered around the Bat family.

I'm all for DC making movies for their popular characters (and not just limiting it to JL members).

But I do think there's some potential repetitiveness if these movies all come out relatively close to each other.

One Bat/Gotham film a year? Fine. That's good business-sense if anything considering the popularity of the Bat-brand. But more than one? That could get boring fast, especially when they could just space them out and potentially make more in the long run.
