A Batman Cinematic Universe?

A Batman Cinematic Universe

  • Shut up and take my money WB.

  • There's to much focus on Batman's world in the DCEU.

  • Don't really care.

  • I don't think there's a Batman Cinematic Universe going on.

I still think WB should have just done a Batman Cinematic Universe from the onset instead of this...whatever-it-is they've got now. Though I probably would've been a little more all-inclusive about it:
* The Brave & The Bold (Batman plus a different super-powered DC hero in each film)
* Birds of Prey (Batgirl/Oracle, Black Canary, Huntress and Lady Blackhawk, plus various other DC heroines as needed)
* The Outsiders (Nightwing, Katana, Black Lightning and Metamorpho, plus various other DC heroes as needed)
* Young Justice (Robin, Superboy and Impulse/Kid Flash, plus other young DC heroes/sidekicks as needed)
* Suicide Squad (Amanda Waller, Rick Flag Jr., Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and Killer Frost, plus other DC villains, super-powered or otherwise, as needed).
I do like the idea of an older, more seasoned Batman, though, so I'd probably have used Jason Todd's death and Barbara Gordon's crippling, both at the hands of the Joker, as the off-screen catalyst for the first running arc throughout each of the franchises; Tim Drake becomes Robin against Batman's orders.

Batman is my favorite superhero (followed by Spidey), but yeah...enough is enough.

Batman is the heart and soul of DCEU, which is ridiculous.
They need to have Bats in everything.

So now the last piece to the puzzle...

Tim Drake or Damian Wayne?

Damian is more likely IMO. Along with Harley, Deathstroke and some others, he is a character DC seem to have been pushing for a good while.

I really don't get why DC are pushing Damian so hard. He's always annoyed the **** out of me - and that was before I became aware of the dislike (outright hatred at times) of him on the net. Reviews of so many stories - even if they're otherwise liked - name him as a minus point. Is there actually a large group of fans who do like him?

I hope they do all the horror villains... They already did Croc, now let's get Clayface, Man-Bat, and Solomon Grundy!

I have to say, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is a fantastic actor, but his take on Croc was not good at all. The voice and the movements were wrong.I was impressed by the makeup, and he looked great for a more realistic take. He reminds me of Azzarello's Croc from Joker..

But I can't help but feel like he should've been more monstrous, maybe even a cgi creation.

They could change up his design and explain that his mutation has advanced, and that would actually be in line with the comics...Hush to be exact.

Yes. He's an awesome character who you were supposed to hate when he was first created. He's experienced a good amount of development since his introduction. He's still an arrogant little ****, but in the best way.

I hate the little bastard but (like Deadpool far as the X-Men film rights) no thanks to X-23's inclusion and age olus reception in Logan, I have a bad feeling Tsurjihara and co will do just that.. Smh

Creators and a fraction of fandom. Especially creators: Peter Tomasi, Brendan Gleason, Scott Snyder to name a few

MANBAT !

I would like Ridley Scott or some mega Alien fanboy to direct a movie based around one of the funnest villains and characters in the DC Universe, Manbat.

It would offer a glimpse into Bruce Wayne's darker side where he actually gets attacked or exposed to the manbat DNA and wouldn't change immediately, rather the effects would first tear into his mind and cause both the Batman and Bruce to act erratically throughout the transformation.

This would give viewers outside of the comic universe a chance to see why Batman has the best villains and how his brilliance and perseverence helps him overcome the chance, reverse it, and hunt the Manbat(s?...) down and save Gotham.

Mystery, Sci Fi, infections turning people into flying demons of the night and almost over night the infected numbers grow.

Title could be simply "Manbat" to give everyone the idea it will be like another Suicide Squad based around the villain - and while the villain would have his debut and bringing actual comic referencing along the way would be an excellent way to go. Could have Manbat already feasting on cows and dogs when he follows Batgirl to the cave and cozys up.

Could play a huge plot in bringing Batgirl into the picture - as well as create the idea that ManBat could actually be Womanbat!

Anyway twists are great aren't they?

I was under the impression Scott Snyder didn't like using the character.

Wait. Sorry, you're right. The Black Mirror saga springs to mind (and that's the only Dick!Bats book after post Knightfall I ever read and actually enjoyed)

Please no.

Batman shared universe would be okay but it would be a watered down version of MCU with less variety and a way less interesting lineup.

Whereas everything in MCU builds to the big teamup Avengers movies, the BCU would just be building to Batman movies. And yea a Batman movie with Robin and Batgirl sounds cool but I don't know if we need 2-3 lesser movies in between just to get there.

I know I'm an anomaly for saying this..

IMHO a quality Batman movie with Robin and Batgirl would top anything the MCU could ever offer.

lol is that the case, atm, with The Lego Batman Movie?

Nah, the end got too goofy for me.

I'm talking a TDKT level Batman movie with Robin and Batgirl. I've been wanting to see that since I was a kid.

I love the MCU, but I'm a DC guy. Batman and Robin will always be my favorite characters.

A Batman cinematic universe excites me to no end. That doesn't mean I'm not excited for the other DC movies though. I really want Teen Titans, a GL reboot, Dark Universe and Sandman. Not really anticipating Flash though, the show is great already, a movie feels unnecessary.

I think it's a good idea to build the foundation of the DCEU around Batman-related characters. Stay with a sure bet like Batman until DC builds some good will with audiences.

Absolutely agree (although I'm keen to see the Flash film).

Warner/DC have been trying to use Batman as a gateway drug to the greater DCU for decades. I find it amusing that Aquaman was a favorite in the animated Batman:The Brave and the Bold series, and, in the radically different incarnation of Jason Momoa, he appears to stand out nicely in the Justice League trailer. Might the JL character seemingly most problematic in translation be the first DC character in the new cinematic universe to truly break out (while fingers and toes are crossed tightly for WonderWoman- Diana MUST do well, if only to ensure the WB doesn't get cold feet on Batgirl)?

I agree that it's smart to build a foundation for the extended universe around Batman. And I also would love a true Batfamily movie. And this time, instead of dabblers and dilettantes (pretty much everyone associated with the production of 'Batman and Robin')- with the likes of Geoff Johns, Chris McKay, and Joss Whedon, fans could be blessed with writers, producers and directors with a deep love and knowledge of the characters, and confident in their ability to translate them beautifully to the big screen.
