I'm thinking of picking this film up within the next week and was just wanting to get some opinions on it from this eclectic section of posters:up:

This movie is fantastic. I absolutely recommend it. Why it's gotten so little exposure here, i'll never know.

Thanks Sean,i figured more here like Gammy,MC,Movies etc would have seen it:confused:

Lee Byung Hyung at his finest. The guy can do no wrong. The movie is somewhat let down by the final scene, but overall still a very very good film.

Interesting,i will get it on monday see if i agreee on the finale, please no spoilers though:)

Saw this last night and i'd call it a modern masterpiece, the directon from Kin Jee-Woon is captivating and the lead performance from Lee Byung Hyung is mesmerizing.

The story, though simplistic, is engrossing from start to finish, the lead character of Kim Sun Woo is just so enigmatic, he's a badass but not an obvious one like you'd see in a US movie, he's somewhat unsure of himself in certain ways and not a maverick in the least, the movies brutal action is shot with style and a viscerality rarely seen these days BUT it never crosses that line into being violent for the sake of it. the musical score is also hauntingly beautiful.

The movies stand out sequence is where kim has 15 minutes to make the call to his Boss Kang and apologize or be killed, Instead he decides to try and escape, the escape sequence is incredibly shot and as intense as anything Ive seen, it really felt like he was fighting for his life.

Top marks

This thread has been here over a year, i think you were on sabbatical when i made it Gammy

Movie is brilliant and I absolutely love it. I bought the Region 3 Wooden Case DVD and it was definitely worth the money.

The operatic style of the final showdown is a thing to behold IMO, some really exciting camera work is used.

Yeah, I own the Director's Cut. And the second disc has great features such as commentary, making of, the style of A Bittersweet Life, Deleted and alternate scenes, and more. If you have a region free player, as many of you should, get the region 3 release.

bumping cause this is one stunning movie, people really need to watch this...

... and my first in this thread sucks ass :(...
