A contradiction?

I think Heath's getting a little extra coverage is also that there are still questions about his death too. By all accounts Chris Benoit's death shouldn't/wouldn't have been picked up by the genereal news media, wrestling isn't really popular with the mainstream, but the circumstances and questions surrounding his death made it bigger than usual. Batman is 7 months away, not really on people radar yet, but the circumstances are kinda weird/mysterious, so the news media thinks we want to know more.

I'm not saying EVERYONE. I'm just saying a good majority of posters in the Batforums are being incredibly selfish and not mourning Heath Ledger at all but the character he played. Don't take my word on it. Go read through the thread and see for yourself just how selfish most of those posts of "mourning" really are. Of course there are people like you, Solidus, and StorminNorman who seem to be geniunely upset by the pasing of another human being...but for the most part down in that forum, no one gives a damn about a human being passing. They care about what they see as the personification of a fictional character dying.

Im definately saddened by his death...a young promising actor who seemed to really hit his stride in the last couple of years..... lands one of the most sought after parts in hollywood and was pretty much guaranteed to be a huge star after TDK. It's also sad that he's leaving behind a young daughter, who by all accounts he loved more then anything in this world. At the same time I'd be lying if the thought of him not being in the next Bat film didn't cross my mind at one time or another, and im not even a "fanboy." Call it selfish or whatever, but I enjoyed his worked, and he really looked to have done a fantastic job on protraying The Joker from what I've seen in the footage, and interviews with other cast members.

*Begin rant*

The fact is, people here aren't mourning Heath Ledger. They are mourning what they see as "The Joker." Fanboys just can't distinguish between the two. If Heath Ledger was never cast in the role, do you really think you'd see all of this?

I mean, go to the Batforums and look at some of the comments being made. "The best actor of his generation." "The best actor to never win an Oscar." "Should get an Oscar for playing the Joker (even though no one has seen him in the role yet outside of a few minutes in a trailer)." These comments aren't logical in the least. He was a good actor, sure, but has he really don't enough to be deemed the best of his generation or the best to never win an Oscar? Hell no. And my point isn't to bash Ledger. My point is to show how little logic is behind this "mourning." These people aren't mourning a person, Chinesefood. They are mourning the character the person played. Therefore, your comments, no matter how true or logical are utterly pointless as well...they don't care. They aren't really "mourning him." Hell, they don't even care about Ledger in the least. "Now I can never meet him or see him play the Joker again." That was one of the comments in the Batforum. The guy leaves behind a 2 year old daughter and all they can think about is themselves and a friggin movie. And that is what this essentially comes down to. Self-pity, not mourning. So your contradiction is moot, as they aren't really mourning Ledger at all.

*end rant*

i agree, thats why i didnt really care at all that he died, of course it is sad to see some one die, and it was but not any more sad than a stranger that died, i dont believe one life is more improtant than anothers, to me every life is equal.

This is a contradiction:

"The next sentence is false. The Previous sentence was true."

I dont think its a contradiction. People have favorite movie stars, singers, etcetera, etcetera. Of course they are going to care more.

This is a contradiction:

"The next sentence is false. The Previous sentence was true."

The way I see is is; The first sentence is calling the first a liar, and the second one is admitting to that, so both are techincally true.

People cry over Heath Ledger, they look sad, they feel sad. They act as if this is some kind of horrible thing. The same with Chris Benoit, Eddie Gurero, Chris Farley, Nirvana guy, River Phoenix, etc etc...

Who cried over Chris Benoit, he killed his son and his wife before killing himself!

The way I see is is; The first sentence is calling the first a liar, and the second one is admitting to that, so both are techincally true.

But if the second is admitting to being a liar, and we know it is fale, then it is lying about being a liar and is in reality honest.

Who cried over Chris Benoit, he killed his son and his wife before killing himself!

Go find the thread and read the posts prior to the revelation that he murdered his wife and son.

I cant be bothered to find it, but I seriously can't imagine people being upset, even before we found out he killed his family the news made it very clear something was amiss.

If your mother died I'm sure you'd mourn a lot more than if a child in Africa died. It's the same thing. While non of us new Heath on a personal level, he was someone who a lot of people loved as an actor and a celebrity. We've watched him on screen an connected with him. You can't say that for a random person who died that none of us know. And for that, no it is not a contradiction or what have you.

And for those who say that the only reason people are mourning is because they can't separate him from the Joker.. please. Thats the dumbest load of crock I've ever heard. :whatever: Honestly, WHO CARES? I'm sure if Harrison Ford suddenly died people would be devastated because Indiana Jones and Han Solo were gone. Their childhood hero was no more.

Not really. Early speculation was carbon monoxide poisioning. If you don't believe me, find the thread.

No I will take your word for it, but seriously did you make the thread or something you sure seem to be plugging it LOL.

That's what the Batboard has turned into? I guess I should be quite glad that when I left, I never looked back.

I don't think that. Some life have more value than others. To me, the life of a murderer, a rapist, those who kill and harm people for their sick "entertainment", their lives have no value to me. If people like those mentioned above die, I'll throw a party.

I respect the dead no matter what and sometimes more then the living.
Haha! That statement made me laugh. Sorry. But are you serious? You respect ALL dead people even those who lived a life of a monster?

I don't get this idea, of denying that it's all Joker-based, and saying that instead it's because he's such a great actor who has been in such great movies.

Clowning Around (1992) - Never heard of it.

Black Rock (1997) - Never heard of it.

Paws (1997) - Never heard of it.

10 Thing I Hate About You. (1999) - utter crapola

Two Hands (1999)
- Never heard of it.

The Patriot (2000)
- Utter Crapperoni

A Knight's Tale (2001) - An Abomination, a crime against cinema.

Monster's Ball (2001)
- Laughable crap.

The Four Feathers (2002)
- Heard of it, sounded boring, got bad reviews. *shrug*

The Order (2003)
- Lame

Lords of Dogtown (2005) - Who cares? They...skateboard? lol

The Brothers Grimm (2005)
- Just sad.

Brokeback Mountain (2005)
- Let me get this straight...It's a movie about two cowboys, who fall in love and revel in ****ing eachother secretly, and then, they can't anymore? Wow. Never was on my "Movies To Watch" list.

Casanova (2005)
- :barf:

Candy (2006)
- Never heard of it.

I'm Not There (2007) - Sounds mildly interesting. I'll never see it. Bob Dylan sucks. Oddly, his only album that I love was after he became a Christian, "Slow Train Coming".

The Dark Knight (2008) - AWESOME!!! CAN'T WAIT!!! THIS IS GONNA RULE!!! They don't have to waste time with the origin story and setting it all up! The JOKER!! W-I-C-K-E-D!!! Look at the new armor!!

lol, they're mourning the Joker, not "one of the greatest actors of his generation".

Wilhelm and I have agreed on about 3 things in the past few days. I feel dirty :csad:

Actually I have seen (and in most cases) enjoyed all those films, even if a couple of them are guilty pleasures.

You didnt like "The Patriot?" :(
I enjoyed that.

And like Noir said, Candy was good [cant believe I forgot that]

None the less, even if Ledger's movies were watchable, to say things like "One of the greatest actors of his generation" (which he may have been but we'll never know as two roles don't prove that) or "Best actor to never win an Oscar" is ridiculous.
