We have gone over assimilation. They will assimilate over time... learning U.S. history will not make them suddenly assimilate faster. Immigrants who came from Europe had to learn U.S. history when coming here as well. Did they assimilate faster because of that? No. Come on now... they could be doing far more productive things (like working) to better their lives rather than taking a history class.
