"A Fresh Start" New Marvel Relaunch for 2018

It does kind of feel like a regression, but it was inevitable. Marvel isn't exactly trying to hide they have absolutely zero commitment to trying to make deaths matter in their lines these days. I'll definitely be picking up the new book, though.

How is any of this a new start when all they are doing is shuffling around SJW writers??? Moving a guy that's a hate-mongering militant from Black Panther to Cap??? Giving a tool like Slott Iron Man??? Giving a *****ebag a Dazzler title??? Etc.

Round and round they go and it appears they really don't want back the fan base that they drove away.

Because they aren't pandering to trolls like you. Coates is a Pulitzer Prize winning author, it is INCREDIBLE that he's writing regular monthly comics. Marvel is never going to win back "fans" like you, and they shouldn't try. Maybe you should stop whining about talented people thinking differently from you and read a story for what it is?

I really like Mariko Tamaki's She-Hulk, so this is cool. Glad to see her get some work.

Seriously? I thought her She-Hulk was absolutely horrible. It was nothing like Jen. And i love She-Hulk so i was extremely dissapointed in Tamaki's run. Who's going to write She-Hulk now? Or is her solo series cancelled? I know she 's also in the new Avengers title.

I loved her she-hulk too. It was nice to see She-Hulk comics that weren't full of lousy jokes and stupid breaking the 4th wall. The character was treated seriously. I hope whoever writes her next lightens her up now that the trauma is supposed to have passed, but keeps the bad humour out.

Her solo series ended.

I thought it was a great story about trauma and recovery. It told the story it was trying to tell very well.

Guys, I don't read a lot of marvel stuff.
In a nutshell, why is Thanos leading the avengers ?! I saw that on a cover.

"Oh Carol, what have they done to you?"

Stuff like THIS is why this isn't a fresh start and deleting threads debating Marvel's ultra-sjw continued agenda won't help or change reality.

They started drawing her like a real human. There's also this thing called "different art styles", but people like you don't seem to be familiar with it.

Also, Kamala Khan is an amazing new character. If you are against her, then, well, your arguments aren't really based on quality of books.

Whining about a comic book company giving their female characters clothing and occasionally opting not to play on your T&A fantasies isn't going to change anything either, fyi.

He wasnt whining in his post. He may need to come back and explain himself. Carol's costume is fine but that hair is awful. She looks like a man in that photo posted. Some artists are better at making her look feminine with it like here:

Please die off already. I don't agree with Coates about everything, but the very idea of calling him a 'hate-mongering militant' means you've read absolutely nothing of his writing.

The guy is a thoughtful, committed writer who introduces an intelligent, authentic black perspective into comic writing that has been in short supply. His 'agenda' is being a good writer. Your agenda is... showing.

If the user Marvel only cared about the hair he wouldn't have posted that crappy Frank Cho art to make his point. Everyone looks weird in that right panel because that is how that specific artist draws human characters. We don't have to like his/her style but it sure as heck it's not proof of a conspiracy against straight male readers.

It's just an artistic choice, and if you ask me it's a better one than choosing to draw female characters with no internal organs and weirdly shaped boobs that are bigger than their heads.

Yeah, a single, out of context panel, with no issue description or anything doesn't prove a point.

CLARKY, I don't read Thanos, but doesn't it take place in the future or something? I don't think Thanos is on the main Avengers team.

I'm pretty sure the panel is from one of the most recent Ms Marvel issues... The user in question is basically saying that he doesn't like how unattractive a female character is drawn in a comic made for kids.

But to those people context doesn't matter. They love using the work of a few cherry-picked artists (such as Kris Anka) as proof that Marvel (the company, not the user :o) is out to deprive straight males of their spank material.

Why do so many comic book readers think that there's only one way to "look like a woman"? Do they read comics just to see women with long hair, skinny waists, and huge curves?

Every girl in that panel looks female though. If we didnt know that was Carol, it would look like a man cosplaying as CM

He never comes back to explain himself, he's a basic, textbook troll. Pops in every now and then to post a rant about the "evil SJW's" depriving him of his straight white male heroes and half-naked, exaggerated female bodies. Then he disappears and won't come back until he posts another rant. Rinse, Wash, Repeat.

It's not just that she's unattractive in it, it's that if I didn't know the character, there's nothing at all that makes her distinguishable as a woman.

Also, 2 quick reality checks.
1) Comics aren't made for kids anymore (the ones that are in their own categories now because there's so few)
2) And as much as some people might not like the reality, the majority of comic readers are still heterosexual males who, yes, like being able to tell that a woman is a woman. Do I agree that Ms Marvel needs giant inhumanly large boobs? no. But I'm willing to recognize the reality that if you want to sell comics then the old costume is going to help sell copies much more than the new one is. Don't pretend it won't. I think a reasonable compromise is keeping the new costume that's not just a bathing suit with a sash but still make her look like a woman (Thanks Havok83 for posting some examples of that).

Are you actually surprised that most men want to see women characters drawn as what they find attractive?
Even take Gert from Runaways for example. A girl character not drawn as classically attractive. But even then she's outnumbered on the team by hot girls, one who is a hot asian girl, the other a hot blond girl, and they both happen to like making out with girls. So even in a more modern comic with diversity represented, it's still feeding into what heterosexual men find attractive.

I don't know what to tell you man, they all look weird to me. It's just that Carol has shorter hair than the others.

By the way, here's the full page. I... she clearly looks like a woman to me. What am I doing wrong.

This is one of the saddest thing I've read all day... I mean, not that I've read many things today, but still. :o This is how you approach freaking porn, not mainstream comic books.

And yes, the Kamala Khan comics are definitely made for kids.

ffs, there are many ways to "look like a woman." Stop holding up comic books to an exaggerated and ridiculous gender binary.
