A Live Action Batman Beyond movie is it a good idea?

It's better then yet again another reboot / origin story

Maybe better as a live-action TV show.

I think it's a great way to carry on batman . Really dont want to see another reboot i think constant rebooting of comice book films just makes them look a joke. Its a fact that WB were thinking about doing batman beyond before Nolan brought forward batman begins. Maybe even set it in the same world as the nolan films. but no direct mention of the nolan triolgys. Just a few side notes in the film. Nolan is after all staying on to produce the next batman franchise. and im sure he'll have some say in what happens next with batman and im sure batman beyond would appeal to his style. So many things ya could do with batman beyond. as we all know terry turned out to be bruces son so be so intresting if it happened.

Well obviously you can't do it right now. But once the Nolan trilogy is finished, maybe. Or more likely, after they try to make some new movies that do terribly.

Batman Beyond wasn't enough of a commercial success to warrant such, and beyond Bat-fandom, it virtually doesn't even exist.
The industy that makes films isn't interested in big risks or new things. They're interested in what makes money and what they feel will work. If it happens to be awesome like the Nolan films, with a good story and good acting? That's a fringe benefit to them.

Whatever comes after Nolan will almost certainly be the same basics of Batman we've always known repackaged. Bruce Wayne/Batman, Alfred, Gordon, Gotham, Joker, blah blah. The stuff people have known and are comfortable with.

I for one hope they just keep on the story-teller route. Get another good story-teller director, someone else who can do dark and gritty and realistic and even thriller, and give them a spin at the Bat-wheel. Have it be in the same vein as Nolan, with Nolan pleased with it, rather than him just a silent name on the opening credits like with Batman Forever.

I can't think of anything more boring than another retelling of the Batman origin. Especially if Nolan is associated with it. As much as I have liked Nolan's take on Batman, I am ready for something fresh and different. Batman Beyond definintely fits the bill.

Batman Beyond is one of my favorite interpretations of the Dark Knight legend. I think a live action adaptation would be fantastic. Make it a trilogy and include Inque, maybe the Blight and end it with the Return of the Joker.

I personally would like to see something a little more light hearted than Nolan's Batverse. Part of the appeal of the show for me was this kid coming in and giving Bruce a shot at redeeming himself. Bruce was closed off and a hermit when he met Terry. As he trains Terry to become the Bat we also witness Terry infusing Bruce with new hope and life allowing him to repair his self esteem and his broken relationships.

It's not a good idea.

It's a great idea for fans who grew up on the cartoon and the DCUA. It's a very bad idea for a general audience that is much more in love with the groudned grittyness of Bruce Wayne than his limited real world gadgets. As cool as it would be to everyone here, I just don't see it taking off with the masses.

I think, if done right, the GA will like it.

Yeah, I dont see how it would be a terrible idea. Batman, futuristic setting, action.... sounds fine to me.

I love the idea of a Batman Beyond movie. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Ted Danson for Blight!

I think doing Batman Beyond would be good, especially after Nolans trilogy.True alot of ppl may not know much about BB but the simple fatc is BATMAN is in it and it may just peak interest in those that never saw the show or know anything of BB univ.Certainly with the tech that is available now, i am pretty sure it would come across the screen well.If movies can be made about Alvin and the chipmunks, Smurfs, etc i'm pretty certain a BB film cant be too much harder to make.
OAN: What do you guys think of a live action Voltron or Thundercats?

Lol... Looks the part but i don't know if I have ever seen Ted Danson pull off scary or menacing =)

Who do you cast as Terry Mcginnis, Max and Barbara Gordon.

For Inque I would cast a really stunning Indian actress... Ayesha Dharker possibly?

I like it.

At any rate, if you think that Danson can't do menacing, you must watch the FX series Damages. Danson played the villain and was a truly slimy, repugnant bastard. He can do Blight.

Terry McGinnis, probably an unknown. Max, I'd leave out of the first movie. She didn't really become important until later in the series. As for Barbara, I'd say that Stockard Channing is the way to go. Finally, for Bruce, I'd say Michael Keaton with prosthetic makeup to really age him. Sure, we can dream of Clint Eastwood, who would be perfect....but Clint will never do it. Keaton made a great Batman and would be perfect for elderly Bruce.

I'd love to see Keaton for this.

John Slattery as Blight

Sigourney Weaver as Babs

And Zac Efron as Terry. No seriously guys, Efron is awesome.

Efron Is. I almost forget that he was a Disney kid. I do like the idea of Logan Lerman as well.

I think that "right" includes when they're not adoring a gritty "realistic" Batman. There's a reason this idea only has traction amongst comic book fans who saw the series.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out:up:

I do like Effron for McGinnis.

Blight was by far Batman Beyond' best villain. Inque had a cool design, but she was boring as a character. Would work well as a secondary villain.

....get a good director...or split direction...

personaly, i'd like to see:

Batman Beyond (Trilogy)

Terry: Stephen Lunsford
Bruce: Kevin Conroy
Barbara: Stockard Channing
Max: Rosario Dawson

Blight: Ted Danson
Mr Fixx: Micheal Clarke Duncan

Directors: Alex Proyas (The Crow, i Robot, Dark City) and Koichi Sakamoto (Kamen Rider Fourze, Kamen Rider W) for the action fight sequences..

give it a good cyberpunk Matrixy style, smart writing, and tight intense action (Sakamoto) and its sold...

I can only see it being the next logical step, plus where the world is now politically? Fortunately, or unfortunately, we are ready for it. And I think Nolan would dig it too because there's a lot you can say about today's political climate within the thrust of this film.
