well, i liked Tara Strong as MJ!t:

I thought she did good with what was given, but I think Vanessa Marshall captures more of what I'd imagine MJ sounding like in the comics. Tara Strong's greatest strength (no pun intended) is that she's really good at doing youthful, more innocent sounding characters like Barbara Gordon wheras Vanessa Marshall is really good at doing a more seductive character, not to say that's what MJ is, but that's the kind of voice she does for some characters.

Anyway, while I'm not a fashion designer-type of any kind (and I'm a dude so I'm not really good in deciding clothes for characters like a costume designer would, most of which are female, not to sound sexist), I'm really interested in getting a character's wardrobe down. I think it really sort of represents a character's personality and taste. Anyone have any ideas for what they think characters like Peter, Gwen, Harry, etc. would wear in high school (in real life, I don't think Harry's clothes in TSSM wouldn't get me to chuckle at least a little). I was thinking that Peter could wear a gray zip-up sweater with the zipper down on top of a dark blue short sleeved T-shirt over a white long sleeved one (not a thermal like Amazing Spider-Man) and some straight fit blue jeans with dark blue low top Converse.

Another idea I had for Parker's attire is a light blue long sleeved T-shirt with a pair of black skinny jeans and a pair of white high top Nike Air Force 1's. Not sure I like it as much as my other idea^^but I still think it fits Peter Parker.

Any ideas for the costume? I really like The Amazing Spider-Man costume, so I'd still use some of the things they used in that costume like puff paint and screen printing, but it'd be constructed differently. It't be more form fitting than that suit but I'm assuming that version of Peter Parker wasn't supposed to be very well versed in costume making, so the measurements weren't perfect. I'm not sure if I would want shoes on the costume. I know that he needs traction, but for some reason I'm not sure if I want him using shoes because I want the costume to sort of stray away from the aesthetic they were trying to pull off. And besides, I haven't really seen any other shoes that would look good sewn to a costume other than the Gel Dirt Dog 3. The pattern would probably be closer to the one on Spidey's usual attire in most comics and cartoons, but with the spider logos from Ultimate. I want the eyes to look simple so they'd probably look like the ones you see on Spider-Sense Spider-Man coloring books and stuff of that nature. No big eyes or overly curvy ones.

Believe me, Spider-Man not having a cheap TV series is very positive. It'll just be something else to saturate the character without adding any quality to the property. A shoe-string budget for a Spider-Man TV series, with a bunch of untalented (The OC) teen type actors would be canceled before the end credits roll.

For starters, I'm talking about it as if it were going to happening 10 to 20 years from now. You're talking about it as if it were going to happen anytime soon. You don't know if budgets for TV shows will rise or movie quality CGI will become affordable and available for smaller projects like TV. If you think about it as if it were going to happen anytime soon, you'll toss aside the idea because of the limitations of today.

The web swinging would only be the tip of the iceberg, the villains are the hardest thing to pull off. Trying to ground them and take away most of their powers, just to get the show under budget would be a mess. Then there's the talent for the teens in Spider-Man's world. I mean, they can't even get most cartoon character to come off enjoyable to watch.

How do Spider-Man's boots work? Do they have rubber on the bottom or some other material or are they like a sock? Because I'd imagine someone ruining their arch support just walking with a sock on. The fabric would be likely to break also.

See, this bugs me. From someone who grew up reading Spider-Man, I know that one of the main themes was that Peter was always short on money. He was always looking for ways to make some extra scratch and not to buy designer clothes but just to survive and help Aunt May. That always bugged me about that animated MTV series where he was always drinking those $5 iced lattes. The real Peter would never be able to afford those kinds of luxuries. Any incarnation of Peter wearing $100-150 shoes and skinny skater jeans (of which I've bought many a pair for my son - they ain't cheap, believe me!) is not Peter Parker.

I understand wanting to make him aesthetically pleasing because that is part of the draw for a film or tv show but one of the things that made people empathize and sympathize with Peter was that he frequently had to go without. He was never a fashionista. His character would have dressed from K-mart or JC Penney and no one would have wanted to emmulate the way he dressed.

TSSM animation was blocky and ugly, USM does it better with animation but TSSM does better story, USM is the better... if we get rid of dialogue.

Story > animation.

Thus, TSSM is better.

Okay, then what would you have him wear? Since 2007, I've lived with a single mother with child support coming in from my dad and by the government's standards, we're considered poor. But my mother could still easily afford buying me the kind of clothes you usually see Peter wearing in all of his various incarnations.

And in kind of a side note, anyone have a favorite design of the Lizard? I don't think you can do anything other than what's already in the comics for the Lizard (some of the concept art for ASM proves it) and I was thinking that the one design I'd take the most inspiration from is the one from the MTV animated series. It seems to pull it's inspiration from the Ultimate version but with a much more menacing and dynamic design which I think would work very well in live action.

I have a question, how in your infinite wisdom would you know that I asked him to stop commenting because I didn't agree with him? At this point in time, I would agree with him say that it's a bad idea. But in order to prevent any people from making any comments such as that, I was referring to it as if it were to happen in the foreseeable future, not today.
