A New and Even Corpulenter Art Thread

Corp, I didnt know you draw. I feel like Marty McFly when he finds out Crispin Glover writes sci-fi.

...If the pictures werent posted on the page I posted on then they werent posted. :o

...didn't even bother to go back a page. :clown:

Um...trustyside-kick these were posted on a page you posted on:

Only things I've drawn and scanned recently are a couple of redesigns of Aquaman's costume:

Novel series. It's huge, too--10 books so far with an 11th on the way, and they're each between 800 and 1200 pages. I only made it as far as the 8th book, myself.

There was a comic adaptation of a prequel novel called New Spring, but nothing for the main series.

I made a gallery at Elfwood (a fantasy art website) a long time ago that's filled with Wheel of Time drawings, actually: http://www.elfwood.com/art/s/s/ssattaur/ssattaur.html

It's from many years ago, so the drawings aren't really that great.

Based on what you said here and the fact I highly respect your opinion I went out and read the first book and i'm half way through the second it's fantastic! I started scouring the net for art and there's really not that much here are the best two pieces I could find they came from Solitarium on DeviantArt:

I also looked at your old stuff and you are waaaaay better now I think you should maybe tackle these characters again....Ok so I have an alterior movtive sue me:grin:

Haha, maybe I will. I'll have to reread a couple of the books, though. It's been a long time since I even thought about drawing them.

Those pics are great. I don't think that guy was doing fan art back when I was. He's much better than everyone whose work I saw at that time.

I've just stumbled into this thread looking for some other fan art and I have to say Corp.... DAMN. Your pencil work is outstanding. I especially love your Thor designs and team pictures.

I'd love to see what you can do with a noir-esque character like Punisher.

Corp...... your artwork is amazing :wow:

You have another fan

Really great stuff! I see you've definitely improved your eyes in your pics. They used to have a bit of that oversized manga style, but you've seemed to adjust them to really fit the rest of the character (much more realistic now). Can't wait to see more!

Dude I'm nearly done with book 2 it's so good this Red Aes Sedai just convinced the girls to leave the white tower to help Rand and i'm screaming don't believe the wench she's a black ajah!:D

Anywho I looked around and really this guy is by far the best most everyone else really sucked:down: I put your OLD stuff in the top three really. The book hasn't gotten too much love art wise. This rendition of da' boys makes me wonder what's coming like the dragon tatoos on Rand I can't wait to see how that happen:D

Heh, yeah, you're in for some good stuff. The first 4 books of the series are great. I'll let you decide about the rest. ;)

Does that mean you haven't read past four or that they started to take the character where you didn't want them to go?

I just started losing interest around book 5. It seemed to lose its focus a lot. But that's all I'll say. I don't want to taint your perception of the series because there is still a lot of good stuff in it.

Sweet but it is sort of daunting (even though i'm loving it now) that there are 9 more books to read after this one:) Did you hear the author died so they have hired someone to finish the last book from his notes.

Yep. He had some kind of heart problem that he was being treated for for about a year before he died. Brandon Sanderson, another fantasy author that Tor publishes books for, is finishing the last book, A Memory of Light.

That's what I heard. Too bad he couldn't see it finished. I heard they supposedly were working on a live action movie but there's been no movement in a while. It so big though you could make a really long series out of it better I think. Like a 5 year scifi series or something.

Yeah, modern fantasy series are really bad fodder for movies. They're usually overflowing with too much stuff to really capture in 2 hours and change. Even Lord of the Rings, which is fairly simplistic as far as fantasy sagas go, took a trilogy of 3-hour movies and still cut out a ton.
