I don't know if this has been brought up. But if this is a reboot, why are they doing the PC thing by keeping "M" as a woman??

Makes no sense. It would be like Batman Begins making Alfred a maid.

Where are they?? I don't have time to look thru all of this stuff!

Just state your opinion.

A reboot means that any continuity is thrown out the window. Therefore there is no problem having M be a female.

Not to mention that Judi Dench was great as M in all the previous movies.

Judi Dench shouldn't been in CR, Producers could have hired some else since the movie is a reboot. I think that's error by Martin Campbell & Co

(Not I hate Dench in the role), in Bond 22 director will hire John Cleese back?:whatever:

ok a theory..

Dench M is the original M.. then she went to another section where a guy bernard lee took over as M..when that guy moved on or died..dench M came back to take over the job she had before.

No your thoery does make sense but what I was going ask is that "was this before Brosnan Bond or after" then I remmebered that it's reboot so I edited my stupid question.

LOL!

fair enough dude..I think my idea could work..buts its stupid and it shouldnt have to..

I think Edward woodwood would have made a good M.

Your theory is a good one tho, man I wish I thought of that. If someone could do better then you...

No...that can't work. In GoldenEye, its very clear that this is the first time that Dench's M and Bond have met. He also makes reference to the Bernard Lee M as her "predecessor." If she came first, then he would have said "successor."

And Robocop was right, there are many previous threads discussing this already.

LOL! Another edition of celldog's logic: "M being a woman is a PC decision" Because of course, women shouldnt hold positions of power.

I don't see it as a sexist thing. What if they had gone through with that rumor of a female Bond. Would that not be a problem for most. Just because you can do whatever you want, doesn't necessarily mean you should.

Hes saying the olny reason they did it was to be PC, not because Judi Dench is the shizznat.

1. Judi Dench is a great actress. That I agree on.

2. PC stand for the director or something? If so I don't believe it was his decision. More as if that Dench brings a bit of respectibility that most actors and actresses just can't. And if you want to be taken more seriously (Like they seem to want to be) then keeping her around isn't a bad idea by any stretch.

Here's my standing on the 'M' issue: With this movie being a reboot it doesn't matter. Even if this movie wasn't a reboot, it doesn't matter either. In the film version of Dr. No, there was never any mention of Bernard Lee's M as being the one to promote Bond to 007, nor any was there any mention of the M's before Bernard Lee's character. Therefore, whether Dench was playing the same female M or not, it would work with the continuity because of that loop hole. But as we all know, this is a reboot without any continuity.

The only thing about Lee's M that was mentioned regarding his position was that he said, when he took over MI6 the death of agents had been decreased. I love Lee's M, especially with Connery. The chit chat was always underlyingly funny, especially the remark he made to Bond as colonel smithers was giving his "lecture" about Goldfinger/gold whilst Bond was displaying his accute sense of knowledge in taste for the whine smithers was serving.

I always though A.Hopkins could have made a good M, he looks a bit like Lee.
