A second viewing

My initial ipression of this movie is mixed. All of the discussion and controversy makes me think I'll see things on a second viewing that may cause me to like it more.


Do you think a second viewing will influince your opinion? What parts do you want to "review?"


For those who've seen it multiple times, did you notice things you didn't before or that changed your mind about certain aspects?

I noticed the Wayne symbol the second time around. Also the film held up very well with my second viewing which I wasn't too sure about considering the serious tone. Everyone seemed to enjoy it.

I've seen it four times, and I would say it's definitely easier to follow all of the flashbacks if that was a problem for you.

I saw it a second time and actually liked it more -- granted I liked it a lot the first time so I'm not sure if that's surprising or not.

My biggest problem I had initially was the non-linear story but since I was prepared for it, some scenes actually resonated more for me, which was surprising.

That being said, I still stand by my initial reaction because that is how most people are viewing it.

After my first viewing, I rated the movie as 8/10, but a day after that i thought that the rating should have been at 7.5/10.

So, I decided to watch the movie once again, after my second viewing, i found that the movie has enough emotional moments and heart, also story flow looked better.

So my initial rating at 8/10 is correct.

I know some people are probably sick of the Batman Begins comparisons, but for me it was the same experimence. The first time you're learning as you go, concentrating on holding on to the ride. The second time, you know how it plays out, so you throw your hands in the air and let the ride take over. Definitely enjoyed it more (even more) the second time.

YES, second viewing answer a lot of my questions. I also enjoy the movie even better the second time. Love this movie and will probably see it a third time in 2d.

Saw it 5 times and every time I get a different emotion walking out of the theater, which is why it's a PERSONAL masterpiece to me. One of those reasons, is the hidden subtle messages that could easily go over peoples heads that I caught each and every single time I watched it.

Seeing it once doesn't give you the opportunity to see the overall scope that Snyder created. It's a movie NOT to see once. Go see it a second time.

The film was even better in the 2nd viewing, and I picked up on somethings I didn't see the 1st time. Some Easter Eggs, scene connections, and character portrayals.

I've had 3 viewings so far, I plan at least 2 more. After the first viewing, my impressions of the characters didn't really change much, I thought the casting was still spot on, but I really noticed the wonky editing and directorial choices made. For Example the time jumps were really sudden and jarring, the tentacles fight was kinda weird looking. Tentacles to not good villains make.

I can't explain it but my second viewing was more enjoyable. Not that it wasn't great the first time, It was. It was just less pressure the second time. This film holds up very well with the second viewing. There are some films I can't even make it through twice, like 300 and Prometheus. Man of Steel zips by. I guess it's because for good or bad the film doesn't let us slow down to breathe.

I admit I LOVED it the first go-round and gave it a 9/10. Well I then saw it in IMAX 3D for my second viewing, and while the 3D added nothing, the film was even better the second viewing. I upped my rating to a 9.3/10.

It got better the second time around because I was able to take in more of the dialogue, and explanations in the film. A lot of the glossed over dialogue actually provides some believable pseudo-scientific explanations for some of the "plot holes" some have found with the film. And if you actually pay attention to all the dialogue there aren't really any major plot holes at all.

The main legitimate critique of MoS is that the pacing is pretty bad throughout. I agree with this general critique, and that's why on a 2nd viewing you're able to sort through the plot better and understand it better. It makes the movie much more enjoyable because things start to fit together when they didn't necessarily fit together the first time.

Completely agreed, there are actually A LOT of very subtle moments and nods to broader themes within the movie, and with Superman mythology itself.

Also Cavill's performance really catches these subtleties and I think his performance gets stronger with every viewing. I also liked Lois & Clark's relationships even more because it really FEELS realistic. They didn't just force in a romantic storyline to "appeal to the female demographic" or to make the movie more lighthearted, they tried to show how a relationship may (or may not) actually develop in the real world. I actually wish they had never kissed in the film at all. But that's a minor nit-pick.

I think a second viewing would make me like it more, yes. My experience of seeing this film for the first time left me somewhat overwhelmed and a little confused. Upon hours and days of reflection, I was able to pick out so many great moments and things I loved. I'm going this Friday to see it for a second time with some non-Superman fan friends of mine who have heard great things about this movie and I'm curious to see what they make of it. I can't wait!

The first go around, my brain acted as if it was a curious sponge just pulsating with wonder. I walked out thinking it was NOTHING I was expecting, but in a GOOD way. My first rating thinking about it in a dazed and emotional trance was 8/10.

I saw it the second time, calm and collected and focused more on the scope of things and actually keyed in on every word of dialogue and my mind was COMPLETELY blown out of its skull.

It's a personal masterpiece to me, but I rate it 9/10 only because there's room for improvement for the sequel. Cavill's Daily Planet Clark Kent makes me excited to see where his performance may lead in mind-blowing anticipation. So much for Supes fans to look forward to, I love it.
