Horror A "Wolfman" Reboot Already Underway

I can't find whoever said this before me, but a Wolfman remake as a period thriller in about 7 years would be awesome if made well and by the right director.

That would be interesting but the problem is we know what to expect with the wolfman, theres not much left to surprise us. he gets bit then transforms a couple days later, then kills some people in gory fashion then ethier falls in love or tries to find a way to break the curse then gets killed after passing the curse onto someone else. The only idea I could think that would be a selling point is if they add to the mythology in way that for once we see the person turn back to a normal human somehow. kinda like when vampires kill the head vampire then there curse is lifted.

Maybe. I like how they had a final showdown in the new movie, but wasn't satisfied with how it played out and culminated. Father vs. Son is too archetypal for the Wolfman. I think expanding on the werewolf who bit Talbot would be a great direction to go: Make him a werewolf who enjoys being a werewolf (Hopkins' character only hints at true enjoyment), and while Talbot tries to contain and subdue his condition, the werewolf who bit him (who's also Maleva's son Bela, in the 1941 film) continues on his rampage.
Maleva could be further developed via her relationship with her son. She's Talbot's last hope, so it might be appropriate that she be the final victim before the finale.

Just a few thoughts, but I agree with you marvelman

So not a wolfman movie, but a werewolf movie? I'm down for any new werewolf movie. What was the last good one? I can't remember.

Oh, now this is something I can get with. It's great casting. Even in Drive, when after he brutally kills that guy and looks at Carey Mulligan; it reminded me of the Wolf Man. There's that quiet edge to Gosling but when he flips the switch it's like a different thing.

And the Network/Nightcrawler idea is intriguing.

Benicio del Toro was a great choice too. We’ll see who ends up directing.

On a positive note, it’s doubtful Gosling would sign on without actually getting makeup on to play the werewolf instead of CGI replacing him.

Wolfman's got nards.

Gosling is a good pick.

I always wondered why there was a wolf howling at the beginning of this song.

now we know.

Disappointed that this will be a contemporary setting. Worst things about Invisible Man was the bland contemporary setting and that boring tech invisible suit.

Gosling would‘ve been one of my fancasts for several MCU characters (Reed, Adam Warlock,...) but now he‘ll be busy

Gosling was never going to sign for a multi-film deal like that. He’s like Joaquin Phoenix in his pickiness of projects.

The one with BDT was set in Victorian times and flopped. Invisible Man was updated for modern times and was a hit. It’s not really difficult to see why they chose a modern setting.

INteresting premise they are going with, and if it’s under blumhouse that just makes me more excited.

How about getting the director of Nightcrawler? It's not like he's doing much after Velvet Buzzsaw.
