ONCE UPON A TIME

PRE-FINALE EPISODES | ABC's fantastical drama opens its sweeps run April 27, with an episode that "answers an enormous amount of questions," cocreator Eddy Kitsis promises. Among them: Who cast the new curse and why? And what else is Hook hiding about his remembered year? And though the Storybrooke heroes seem to have the Wicked Witch's time-traveling agenda figured out, "There's an additional surprise element to what's coming," says cocreator Adam Horowitz. "It becomes more than it appeared at first blush." On May 4, the episode "Kansas" serves up more Oz-based mythology (and iconography) as well as introduces us to the show's take on Dorothy. All of that, Kitsis says, "will open the door to a new adventure that leads to the two-hour finale." The girl in the link's picture with Zelena and Glinda has me thinking y'all might be overreacting to what Eddy and Adam said about Dorothy.

So Its not going to be a recap 1st and then the Finale on the same day. Cool a 2 Hour Season Finale pretty much.

On the Hook/Emma front — specifically, the matter of his damning next kiss – series cocreator Eddy Kitsis points out, “Right now, Emma doesn’t seem so interested in kissing him. So we’ll have to see if that changes.” As for the simmering “OutlawQueen,” he says, “You will see that the only thing standing in their way is Regina’s sister [Zelena], who will test whether or not she has really changed.” Reflecting on Regina’s long road to romance, Kitsis says, “It’s taken 60-some episodes to get to this moment of Regina opening her heart, so we’re gratified the audience came with us on that ride.”


Please tell me you have some good spoilers for Once Upon a Time’s Rumple/Belle fans? It would be nice to get something positive for once! –vab
I was valiant like a prince in trying to get you the goods, during my May Sweeps Q&A with the creators. So when Eddy Kitsis offered up the usual, “Fans should keep watching,” I pressed for more. Adam Horowitz responded, “Rumple and Belle are a relationship that has had many challenges, but what we love about them — and what the fans can look forward to — is that no matter the adversity, the light and hope and optimism at the core of Belle will continue to fight on. You’ll see that as the rest of the season plays out.” And if you relished as I did the overdue scene where Belle gave Regina guff for her long captivity, Kitsis promises “more stuff with Emilie [de Ravin] coming up that we think is some of her best work on the show.”


The photo you released of Once Upon a Time Episode 320 has a girl with what looks like the classic blue-and-white checkered Dorothy dress. Any chance you can give us more on her? –Jacquelyn
That’s Matreya Scarrwener playing Dorothy. You may know the ingenue from… hmm… a Season 3 episode of The Killing, maybe?

Yeah, but when certain others go around touting it like it was their original call, then it just feels good to point out when they're wrong, just like with Ursula.

The Ursula thing was the best. The second I saw Yvette Nicole Brown's name in the opening credits, I was like "hold on a second..." and then it happened and I was awe-struck.

I need her to show up fully in-character at some point.

I'm still hoping we can get some villain alliance at some point on this show. Maleficent clearly has beef with various characters (Regina changed her, Emma and Hook both fought her), Ursula has issues with Regina, if they can bring Rumple back through magic they could think of something to bring back Pan, Jafar is still out there in his bottle. And there's various other villains they haven't even touched yet.

I'm glad that they aren't merging Dorothy with anyone. And I was glad that I was wrong about Ursula even though it was a double edged sword since they have her classic material to Regina.

Uh, I never said he definitely would be, like certain others do. I said it was a theory, not something that would definitely happen. Theories are expected to be false to a degree to begin with.

1. [BLACKOUT]Is the thinking the younger Cora stuff was before her being tripped and humiliated by Ava? If that is the consensus, why was there no indication that they knew each other in that episode?[/BLACKOUT]

2. [BLACKOUT]Did I miss the explanation of who or what caused the magical green vortex/portal after Cora left Zelena in the forest? This all should have happened before Cora met Rumple, yes? So, of course, she would not have been magically empowered? Am I again confused here? So again, did Cora just happen to know that vortex was going to open? Did she have an enchanted bean? Did I just miss these details?[/BLACKOUT]

3. [BLACKOUT]I still have not caught up on the end of WONDERLAND. Did Jaffar succeed in some way to change the elemental laws of magic? Is it possible that those events could impact ONCE?[/BLACKOUT]

I have liked a lot of things since the Witch showed up, but... Does anyone else feel some of the extended cast of regulars and even the show's core cast have been relegated to side stories and the like in the overall narrative or are more than likely to have their screen time eaten up by being exposition machines to a certain degree over having some real character building/revealing material lately? Charming is a prime example of this I think. He had that Rapunzel story, and stuff about being thought of as the "uncool" baby sitter for Henry, but that's neither of those were particularly interesting or meaty and the Rapunzel stuff was just to establish the quest Zelena is on, but it felt like filler to me. I usually defend the show and the writers/producers, but I think some characters are being not as well served as they could be.

@ Glinda not being powerful enough. But hopefully it is just against Zelena and not in general. Hope this isn't the last we see of good ol'G.


oooh Snow wanting to cast the curse, but why don't these people remember that a certain Mermaid is able to travel between realms at super speed? And how many magical babies are Snow/Charming going to be able to pop out? Are they basically saying that no other birth in FTL were conceived out of true love? Emmas specialness needs to be a one time deal.

I wonder if when the monkeys go poof if they are actually dead since everyone knows at this point that they are made from actual people.
