Eh. I'd like her to appear next season, but I don't think she necessarily needs to be a series regular. It makes a lot more sense for the love interest of a main character and someone who has (for the time being) inserted herself into both their lives to be around on a more permanent basis.

What’s going on with Once Upon a Time‘s Will Scarlett? Is Michael Socha still a series regular? –Emma
I am reminded of the Facts of Life theme song’s opening lyrics as I report that, just as Sean Maguire and Rebecca Mader have been made series regulars for Season 5, Michael Socha alas will not continue to be one — which is not to say we’ve seen the last of Will, however. (This is where y’all get to dream-casting what other show Socha could now join. New Grey’s doc?)

Because they probably liked working with the actor on OUAT in Wonderland and didn't want to let him go when that show ended and, going into the fourth season, assumed an opportunity would pop up to really fold him into the main cast and it just never materialized that way. I can't really hold it against them.

only because they didn't bother to write about him... there could have been a few episodes this season i would have rather seen the focus go to him then other characters.:o

Well this show is known for having characters show up and then disappear then show up again without any explanation.

I think it's more that they don't know what to do with characters who aren't related to Rumple/Regina/Charmings. Either you are a relative of some sorts or a love interest.

I think some of you missed the part where they state: "which is not to say we’ve seen the last of Will, however." In otherwords, he'll have at least a partial recurring role for some of the next season. That could be one or two episodes or recurring the entire season off and on.

Ok? They say that about every character. 1 episode just to have him dissappear into Storybrook like everyone else isn't anything new.

The only side characters that have stuck around are the Dwarfs, Hopper, Blue (when the episode needs her) and Granny; and that's without Ruby.

The Returned is cancelled. Wonder how long before we see that Agnes Bruckner has gotten a promotion. Presumably with Kristin Bauer at least recurring.

Once Upon a Time Casting Rumple's Mom — Dare We Hope for Karen Gillan?
By Matt Webb Mitovich

Tick-tock, Dearie! If you’re a young actress who can brandish a Scottish burr, Once Upon a Time is looking for you.

TVLine has learned that for an early Season 5 episode, the ABC drama is guest-casting the role of Rumplestiltskin’s mother, Evanna, to appear in flashbacks.

To date, precious little is know about Evanna — she was already gone at the that time Rumple’s unscrupulous father Malcolm left the lad to be tended to by spinner spinsters (which really should be the name of an all-girl band), only to resurface for the gents’ first trip to Neverland.

But this much TVLine can now reveal: Once is seeking an actress in her mid-20s to early 30s to play the “stunningly beautiful” Evanna, who is described as “plucky, strong and imbued with an unshakeable sense of self-confidence.” Evanna sometimes acts before she thinks, though unlike her son she never acts out of pure self-interest. Rather, her noble spirit stands in stark contrast to the now-dark soul of her offspring.

Candidates must also be able to pull off a Scottish accent.

Mid-20s to early 30s? Scottish accent? Dare we hope for Whoniverse alum Karen Gillan? Or, maybe steal Rose Leslie aka Game of Thrones‘ Ygritte for an episode?
Not Karen Gillan, they need to save her for Merida! :argh:

Can't wait to get this one!

I would be interested to hear Rose Leslie's Scottish accent. Leslie is Scottish but doesn't naturally have a Scottish accent because she is one of those aristocrats who went to boarding school in England.

ABC has announced that Once will present its panel on Saturday, July 11, at 10 am (in Ballroom 20), followed by an autograph signing at 11:15 (in Booth 4245).

Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Josh Dallas, Emilie de Ravin, Colin O’Donoghue and Robert Carlyle, plus newly promoted series regulars Rebecca Mader and Sean Maguire, will join Once creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz for the Q&A, to be moderated by superfan/onetime Ursula/Odd Couple star Yvette Nicole Brown.

Nice to see D. Wade take a break from Power.
