ABC's Once Upon a Time - Part 7

Seeing scenes more up close from upfront, it does seem like Rumple/Ursula/Cruella do arrive back in SB sans Mal which seems like they do get her from the cave like a lot of people have speculated. Now I wonder how they manage to re-enter SB.

Really great episode. My favorite one in a while.

Some fun comparisons from tumblr

I'm surprised ABC isnt doing a OuaT:Frozen mini series. Maybe they will though.

I usually despise Belle, but when she confronts Rumple, it's the first time I've genuinely liked her. While the scene was dramatic, I wish they had stepped it up just one more level when Rumple is crossing the town line. Since he is magical it would've been really nice to see the magic kind of being ripped from him and see him reverting back and forth from Rumple to Gold.
Agreed

Didn't Emma kill Maleficent? If not, what was the episode that she appeared again?

''The Evil Queen'' ep in season 2. She was fighting with Hook in the caves beneath the library. She was in some zombie creature form.

Didn't she "kill" her in season 1? I always thought that regeneration was apart of the curse Regina put on her.

I have to keep reminding myself that in this show Rumple is the godfather of all evil and everything will be connected to him in some way, cause when he was chocking Maleficent I was just shaking my head like surely the "Mistress of all Evil" could hold her own against Rumple.

Cruella is going to be interesting to watch cause I'm so used to the over the top version from the animated and live action films and they don't seem to be doing that.

Ursula is the only question mark but I do love the way they incorporated her tentacles. I'd like to know why she's considered goddess though.

Overall I'm very intrigued by what looks to be Rumple and the girls against Regina and Emma trying to find the author.

Don't remind me of that horrible idea of theirs.

TVLINE | Any returns to confirm, Ariel or otherwise?
HOROWITZ | Yeah, we can for the first time tell you that Ariel is coming back (played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher). You will see her within the first half of 4B. There may be some other returns that we’re not ready to confirm yet, from our past years.

TVLINE | So I’m looking at the Queens of Darkness — and keep in mind, Victoria Smurfit seemed to get a great reception from our readers — and yet there’s a sense of “One of these things is not like the other.” Suffice to say you’re taking some liberties with Cruella de Vil?
ADAM HOROWITZ | Yes. The traditional Cruella from the classic animated movie has been a jumping off point for our own rendition. If viewers watch what we have in store, you’ll see that while honoring some of the history behind the character, we’re putting a twist on Cruella’s background that involves the Enchanted Forest and a dollop of magic.

TVLINE | Can you give a hint as to how her magic leans?
EDDY KITSIS | It leans towards what she wears on her back. It deals with animals.
HOROWITZ | And it’s dark.
TVLINE | Regarding Rumple’s pitch to Ursula: How might their mission, and how it involves The Author, differ from what Regina and Henry are up to?
KITSIS | It’s not that it’s different. It’s setting them on a collision course. As we saw in that [car] scene last night, Regina laid out to him, “Villains don’t get a happy ending, so I’m going to find this author,” and he said, “That’s bulls–t. Watch me take one.” Well, that blew up in his face, and now he is a man without magic in a land where he is very much not in control, so he’s beginning to see what she said. He has reached a point in his life where he is now asking for help — he can’t do it alone — and he thinks that Regina is on to something.

TVLINE | Would you call Rumple the Big Bad for Season 4B, with the Queens of Darkness almost as his “backup singers”?
KITSIS | Rumple is absolutely the Big Bad. And I would also say that the three women can more than hold their own. It’s a very formidable team of evil coming our way.

I wish Ariel was playing a bigger role but I don't think she will. Though they should have her retrieve her fathers Triton in the end to help defeat Ursula.

And you know, with all these villains sneaking into Storybrooke, you would think they would take inventory of everyone and who they were in FTL.

I'm wondering if Cruella might be some kind of shape shifter with whatever fur she wears. Like maybe she shifted into that dalmatian to lure Belle away.

I'm thinking the same thing. And she definitely seems to have the best personality out of the three from what little we have seen of her thus far.

But how I wish that these three actually struck terror in the heart of Rumple instead of the other way around.

He considered them a formidable trio of opponents. That's as good as it gets where he's concerned.

I thought of that to why would that Dog lead Belle into trouble. If only that that Dog was actually Cruella De Ville.

Victoria Smurfit (Cruella): :mag

Yep, perfect Cruella. :woot:

Good finale, Rumple got what he deserved! :hehe:

Since Robin Hood is Regina's true love, he'll be back and she'll get her happy ending, unless they decide to be less predictable and do something else.

Now that Rumple is the "villain of the story", Belle should be more interesting, maybe have a bigger role, but if they try to pander to freaking Rumbelle shippers again, it won't last and both characters will be ruined by the end of the show, hopefully not.

If Yen Sid is not the Author, then is either Merlin or ???

He might be constantly referred to as one, but Rumple is not a villain (as the latest comments from Adam and Eddy clearly confirm); nothing he ever does is as straightforward as it appears, and this current storyline they set up for him with the Queens of Darkness is no exception.

^ People really ought to realize by now that the LIVE ratings don't mean all that much to ABC when it comes to this show. Even a 'series low' in the LIVE ratings isn't going to do anything to hurt this show's chances of being renewed for as long as Adam and Eddy want to keep telling stories, because it's really the LIVE+ ratings that matter in terms of measuring its success.

As for the Frozen inclusion being a 'gimmick', anybody who dismisses it as such is silly for doing so.

Nothing A&E have done has been 'gimmicky'; everything they've included on this show has had a narrative purpose, and, narratively, the Frozen inclusion worked very, very well.

This season wont be the last but they should start talking to ABC about ending the show. Everyone is connected to Rumple/Regina, they all encounter the Charmings, come to Storybrooke to get revenge on one of the three, they are all misunderstood....

But this is not going to run as long as Adam and Eddy want it to run, it is a little bit pricey and those live ratings still matter very much. But the show isn't doing THAT bad when compared to anything that isnt Modern Family.

And Frozen was a gimmick even if they managed to work it in. Frozen wold not have been introduced this fast if it werent as huge of a success as it was. But Frozen did its job and brought good ratings for the most part.

^ Adam and Eddy didn't bring the Frozen storyline into OUaT because it was a successful film; they brought said storyline into OUaT because they enjoyed the movie. How successful Frozen was had absolutely zero bearing on A&E's decision to incorporate it into their universe, and they've been adamant and upfront about this.

As far as the LIVE ratings go, the way ABC execs have talked about OUaT in the past very much gives the impression that they care far less about the LIVE ratings than people think they do, and that they very much take DVR viewing into consideration when judging the success of the series.

Great episode.
The Evil trio looks fun.
I think there is no Author, the stories are self created by the characters themselves.
Regina smile at the end :hrt:
