ABC's Once Upon a Time - Part 7

Whew! This has to be one of my least favorite episodes of the season if not the series. The main plot with Ursula was just bad and highly unoriginal.

Ursula became a ripped off version of Ariel, with Poseidon becoming a ripped off version of Triton. Her entire life of being a "villain" is because her singing voice is taken from her, she turns herself into an Octopus just to spite her father. Nothing about this was interesting or endearing to me. Ursula already had an intriguing background to expand on in the movie. Not to mention that now we are basically on our 3rd version of the character in the same show. We've had Regina!Ursula, Goddess!Ursula (since it seems like the one we encountered in that statue wasn't this Ursula) and nu!Ursula. She was such a let down in every sense of the word and the writers just failed at adapting her. It was like some bad fanfiction.

As nice as it was to see Ariel again, she was useless and disappeared just as quick as she appeared.

The plot with Pinocchio was far more interesting and incorporating the nose was nice and funny.

That was the only reason why I watched tonight. August and Mad Hatter were my favorites, and when they were no longer on the show, I lost interest real quick. I have a cousin that still watches it and she let me know about August coming back, so I decided to check it out. I wonder if he's going to be in it for the rest of the season?

And now, it appears, Ursula is gone. Back to the sea with her father, so this whole Queens of Darkness half of this season doesn't seem to be going as well as the Frozen half.

Might as well have just made it all about Maleficent.

So Ursula becomes a villain because her singing voice was taken from her? Good thing Ariel didn't do the same when she became an actual mute for over 20 years.

Wonder what Cruella's motivations will be for becoming a villain? Maybe we will be getting a backstory episode for her also. Guess that means that Ursula is finished being a villainess now so the whole build up to these women were for nothing.

Someone stole her Dalmatians so she turns to a life of crime.

How I felt about this episode

I'd like it if they brought back Mad Hatter and Jafar.

They totally have butchered tlm, in their first bout with the character. But at least they've tried to include the whole story none the less and try to fix what they broke. For what its worth i liked it

How did they try to fix what they broke? By introducing yet ANOTHER Ursula and transferring Ariels story to her?

So is there an actual Ursula sea goddess out there? The one who yelled at Regina for stealing her image can't be this Ursula since she did the exact same thing.

Also, when did Elsa learn to shrink things?

Yes, there is another Ursula out there, appears to be the one from the statue.

I just thought Elsa could freeze things but hey PLOT CONVENIENCE!

it means they screwed up Ariel, so they at least tried to tell the story of the little mermaid, and gave it to ursula instead...

yes there apparently is another Ursula out there, which i found very odd... and truly pointless to do... unless they tie her in deeper with the greek gods, or she is officially the "Sea witch" of the original story? idk.. it's all odd..

especially if Ursula (Poseidon's daughter) was more powerful than him..

also, i'd like to know what exactly made Ursula a villain? we've yet to see any villainous things she's done in Fairy Tale Land

And she give herself octopus arms.

Ariel asked Hook if that was the real Ursula and he said yes. There's no third Ursula.
This one turned herself into goddess\witch and threatened Regina as a statue. That's how they know each other.
I loved the ep and her Little Mermaid backstory. And she got her happy ending. I'm sure Cruela and Maleficent will get their happy endings by the end of the season.

i guess you missed the part where young Ursula said she was named after the ancient sea goddess... to her father.

that makes 3 ;)

Ursula said that he named her after ''the sea goddess of old'' and she said that was a legend. She doesn't exist!

She was named AFTER the sea goddess. They never met her but she is a legend as much as this plain jane was a legend.

This Ursula doesn't have the balls or shall I say tentacles to threaten Regina, all she knows how to do is whip/strangle people.

I liked this epsiode. Reminded me of what I used to like about Once in the first place. More twists on a familiar story, less C-level Disney fan fic.

umm you are aware all these characters could be considered legends right? you her father is of Myth and Legend... legends don't automatically mean "made up"
