Overall, I think that's a much better put-together trailer than the first. And I'm really looking forward to hearing what comes out of it's SDCC panel, especially with Damon Lindelof moderating.

David Anders has found a new supernatural show to call home: ABC’s Once Upon a Time. AOL TV reports that the former Vampire Diaries antihero will play a doctor on the new series, which bows Sunday, Oct. 23. Additionally, Paula Marshall (Californication) has been cast as Malificent, Sleeping Beauty’s evil nemesis.

Anders is awesome and the show using Malificent should be interesting.

Once Upon a Time Taps True Blood Scene-Stealer Kristin Bauer van Straten as Evil Witch

Once Upon a Time has wrangled Bon Temps’ *****iest vamp to portray one of the fairy tale world’s most infamous villains.

Kristin Bauer van Straten — who plays the scene-stealing Pam De Beaufort on HBO’s True Blood — has landed a guest spot on ABC’s whimsical drama as Maleficent, the evil witch from Sleeping Beauty. The role originally belonged to Paula Marshall (Californication), but TVLine has learned that producers decided to go in a different direction.

The actress first revealed the casting news via Twitter, excitedly announcing, “Packing for Vancouver – to shoot #OnceUponaTime – new fantastical TV show.”

Little is known about what Bauer van Straten’s version of Maleficent will look like (or who she’ll play in the series’ amnesic alterna-world, Storybrooke), but we can confirm that she is slated to appear in Episode 2, which airs on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 8/7c.

Bauer van Straten joins a Season 1 guest cast that also includes Alan Dale (Lost) as Prince Charming’s pops, Jessy Schram (Falling Skies) as the glass slipper-missing Cinderella, David Anders (The Vampire Diaries) as a small town doc, and Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) as the sidekick to Lana Parrilla’s Evil Queen.

Pam as Maleficent?! I approve.

Brad Dourif will guest-star on ABC's new fairy tale drama Once Upon a Time, TVGuide.com has learned.

The Deadwood alum, who most recently appeared on the Season 3 finale of Fringe, will play a beggar who befriends the evil Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle).

Executive-produced by Lost's Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, the upcoming series tells the story of the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) casting a spell upon classic fairy tale characters who live in Storybrooke, Maine, and don't know their own true identities. Among them is Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin), whose daughter Emma (Jennifer Morrison) may be the key to rescuing the town.

Once Upon a Time premieres Sunday, Oct. 23 at 8/7c on ABC.

Scoop: Once Upon a Time Bewitched by Buffy Alum Emma Caulfield

Beloved Buffy the Vampire Slayer vet Emma Caulfield is venturing into the supernatural world once more — this time as an infamous fairy-tale staple on ABC’s Once Upon a Time (premiering Sunday, Oct. 23 at 8/7c)

TVLine has learned that the actress will play a role we first told you about, the “incredibly scary and frightening” Blind Witch from Hansel and Gretel, who appears in the ninth episode of the fantastical drama’s debut season. Caulfield excitedly revealed the news via Twitter on Monday.

The casting marks both Buffy and Life Unexpected reunions for the actress, who worked with Once consulting producer Liz Tigelaar on the latter and co-exec producer Jane Espenson on the former, making this news all the more sweet.
