I know it's early to create this thread considering that it'll come out 2012 but anyway who's pumped for the show? I know I am. :awesome:
The series is being developed by Charlie Bean (Samurai Jack), who will executive produce and direct it and the Tron: Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are also working on the project, and will serve as consulting producers.

It's a 10-part episodic series and it follows Beck (Elijah Wood), a young program who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid. His mission is to free his home and friends from the reign of the villainous Clu and his henchman General Tesler. Beck will be trained by Tron - the greatest warrior the Grid has ever known. Tron will not only teach Beck the fighting skills he needs to challenge this brutal military occupation, but will be a guide and mentor to him as he grows beyond his youthful, impulsive nature into a courageous, powerful leader. Destined to become the new protector of the system, Beck adopts Tron's persona and becomes the archenemy of Tesler and his oppressive forces.

Besides Elijah Wood there's Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Nate Corddry, Lance Henriksen and Bruce Boxleitner of course, who will reprise his role as Tron.

Some new infos from Adam Horowitz.

This could be good. It has a pretty cool voice cast.
Hopefully the look of the series will be 2D but it would probably be CG.
Nonetheless looking forward to the series. :yay:

God I hope it isn't in CG, but with the recent tread of having CG instead of hand-drawn animation in a cartoon show it may be possible, but we'll see.

Definitely looking forward to this. I just don't want to wait that long to watch it. D:

Considering that the Legacy didn't do so well from what it's expected from Disney this may be the last thing we'll see from the Tron franchise in awhile. :(

awesome cast they lined up. i wonder when exactly this takes place in the Tron-verse though since it mentions that Tron will be training the new program to take down Clu. i guess it takes place between Tron 1 and Legacy.

The show takes place just after Clu's betrayal and it's possible that this Beck was trained by Tron prior to that event.

I don't know, since it will focus more on the front line of the resistance then behind the line (where probably Flynn is ) but this is just speculation from my part though until we get more details.

Using 2D to animate a series about TRON is just backwards to me :)

I really like hand-drawn animation (2D in another word) but if the CG look more like The Clone Wars and less like Transformers: Prime/Iron Man: Armored Adventures then I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Yeah, 2D or 3D animation doesn't matter to me persay all matters is the attention to detail. If it is 2D, I want them to be as innovated as Batman:TAS was with their animation. And if it is 3D, then there should be a lot of thought put into it with the 3D animation like the Starship Troopers show back in the day.

Part of the whole plan with Tron: Legacy was to launch a multi-platform new franchise which would span the movies, potential sequels, video games, animated television projects and maybe even a theme park attraction.

The animated series Tron: Uprising voice cast includes Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Nate Corddry, Lance Henriksen and Tron himself Bruce Boxleitner. It is directed by Charlie Bean, Joseph Kosinski and Sean Bailey, and is written by Tron: Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. The story is set between the original Tron and before Tron: Legacy.

Plot Synopsis:

Beck, a young program who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid. His mission is to free his home and friends from the reign of the villainous Clu 2 and his henchman General Tesler. Beck will be trained by Tron – the greatest warrior the Grid has ever known. Tron will not only teach Beck the fighting skills he needs to challenge this brutal military occupation, but will be a guide and mentor to him as he grows beyond his youthful, impulsive nature into a courageous, powerful leader. Destined to become the new protector of the system, Beck adopts Tron’s persona and becomes the archenemy of Tesler and his oppressive forces.

Tron: Uprising will begin airing on Disney XD (which I’m told is the Disney Channel’s answer for boy programing) during the Summer of 2012, after a a 10-part micro-series this Fall.

Looks great, and it has the same visual flair as Legacy. I like that they went with a mix between 2D animation and 3D animation for the show.

Looks pretty awesome. Hopefully the story is good which was one of Tron: Legacy's drawback.

Kinda surprised a Disney project would hire Paul Reubens.

Tron: Uprising Sneak Peek at Comic-Con

The upcoming Tron animated series, Tron: Uprising, will have a special preview at Comic-Con, Disney revealed today. Unfortunately though, there won't be a Tron: Uprising-specific panel. Instead, the panel for Disney XD's Kick Buttowski will also include sneak peaks of both Tron: Uprising and Motorcity, both coming to Disney XD.
