ABC's Once Upon a Time

This is nothing like LOST. Flashbacks aren't what made LOST. That was part of it's greatness. The Event used flashbacks. Nobody compares this show to The Event. Family Guy uses flashbacks. Angels used flashbacks. How I Met Your Mother uses flashbacks.

This show is like LOST and so is Alcatraz for that matter. Every episode has flashbacks focused on one character with a real time story line. It uses the same format. Just like Parks and Rec is always going to be compared to the Office. This will be compared to LOST.

Not to mention the characters being trapped somewhere different than where they originally came from.

The episode where Graham died was like the LOST finale where everyone remembered and cried. Graham cried too...then died. :csad:

I think some people suffer the Lost Syndrome to always compare it to the other show.
Soon Anna Montana will have Lost stuff in it too.

Alcatraz gives me some Lost vibesbecause of the tone and the big guy but surely not Once Upon a Time.

Honestly, I would like to see David Guintoli (Grimm) cast as Prince Eric because the resemblance is uncanny from the Disney's one :D

you're kidding, right?

The STYLE of Once Upon a Time is very much like the same STYLE as Lost. There's an over-all plot...and we are given bits and pieces to work with to slowly discover more and more of it as new questions are created. It's a great method of storytelling because it doesn't force feed you everything.

The format may be the same but that doesn't mean it's like LOST. People are acting like it's exactly like LOST...down to the characters. Yes they have similarities but they aren't the same and all people are doing is inviting comparisons to make it seem that they are of the same caliber or of the same quality. They aren't the same on the outside just because the frame work is the same on the inside. They didn't kill Graham because LOST killed off major characters. Mr. Gold isn't like Ben. The new writer isn't Jack. Just let this show be it's own show and develop it's own identity instead of it being a replacement for LOST. At best, this is a PG LOST if you want to compare. I would have loved this show when I was 10 and could relate to Henry. The only thing I look forward to are the hot ladies.

I don't because LOST >>>>> this. This is a wholesome family show that is neutered and that's fine...just not my cup of tea. With that, I will take me leave. If I hear they have picked up with their writing then I will be more than happy to give it another shot. But...stop with all the in show LOST references...I got it already. I don't need to see them every other episode and I'm tired of hearing all the comparisons.

Lana Parrilla played Greta (Other who died in the Looking Glass, aww I miss Charlie...) in Lost. But really there are similarities that you just can't deny. Here's a list, obviously some are a little stretched but, that's irregardless.

No, this show is not at the high point that Lost was, but I don't think that any current show will reach Lost. This show does, in a way, emulate Lost in a familiar fashion, and I personally think it's doing it well.

Those are all Easter Eggs and homages. Look how many there are...it's just gotten annoying. Easter Eggs are supposed to be subtle, not thrown at you every episode and then shoved down your throat. The writers didn't direct the episodes so the directors copying stuff like opening on the eye is just sad to me.

But again, it's fine to pay homage...just stop shoving it down my throat. Alcatraz has some similarities to LOST but people aren't saying Sam Neil is Ben Linus. As someone else mentioned, I blame ABC's marketing with their constant barrage of "From the writers of LOST" and I wouldn't be shocked if ABC execs asked the writers to do this. Just let LOST be LOST and this be Once Upon a Time.

Actually I remember someone in the Alcatraz thread saying Neil's character had a Ben Linus vibe and people have said numerous time's that Garica's character is a deeper version of Hurley. I also just compared a scene to LOST in the thread as well. It's not just Once Upon a Time people are comparing to LOST. EDIT: It wasn't in this Alcatraz thread but another forum.

Not a lost fan but I am tired of people on this forum connecting unrelated **** to lost. That show didn't walk on water and didn't bring any groundbreaking story telling style. Using flashbacks to tell a characters backstory is older than most of you. The first that I can remember is a Bruce Lee flick enter the dragon.

It's annoying at any level. Ben Linus is Ben Linus...that's it. If you look hard enough, you can find comparisons with everything and anything. Garcia's character in Alcatraz is not anything like Hurley. They look alike...because they are the same person!

Ack this has gotten annoying. If no show can ever be better than LOST then what's the point in watching anything else? Lets all go watch LOST so we can compare LOST to LOST!

LOST isn't LOST anymore. [/nosebleed]

I watched every damn episode of Lost, and loved about 65% of it, but I'll never understand the pedestal some people put it on.

That said, this show is not remotely Lost. Sure, it focuses entire episodes on certain characters using flashbacks to flesh them out, but Buffy/Angel did that all the time before Lost was even a glimmer in any of its creators' imaginations. It's a fairly common television device these days, and that's the only major stylistic similarity I see between the two shows, so it seems like a pretty weak comparison to me that's just being made because the creators were writers on that show.

Also, plenty of current shows can be (and are) better than Lost, imo. It's silly to suggest such a thing is impossible.

LOST invented TV. You guys should really know this stuff. :o

I love LOST so much, I want to take it behind a middle school and get it pregnant.

Lets get this out of our systems now before we get to page 29. We don't need this bleeding over.

I guess lost ruined tv for you like Joel Schumacher almost ruined batman.
