Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Movie in the Works

Went to see This Means War and the AL:VH trailer was attached. This looks all kinds of awesome. I've wanted to read the book as I'm a fan of the alternate history genre so I'm definitely down for this one.

terrible insulting idea LOL

no not really

snake on plane was a damn comedy

and westerns never have been hits

this has a very Gothic dark tone associated with burton films that do well

hell even Sweeney todd made more than double its budget and that was dark musical about demon barber lol

i wish someone would put me in a movie as a kickass vampire hunter...insulting NOT

I only fear for the movie overseas, where Lincoln's name doesn't really mean a thing.

This movie is not going to be a big hit. It's a terrible insulting idea and joke title movies never take off.

You know why Jonah Hex made no money? Because it was a ****ing ****** movie.

Jesse James is a masterpiece of modern film making that was unfairly dumped by the studio.

How about the Oscar winning No Country for Old Men? Or Brokeback Mountain?

Is this movie really bothering people that much?

not saying all of them flopped but westerns dont generally make big bank

and arent an in genre

i may have worded my statement wrong i meant they aren't usually hits

You want a great recent western? Rango was of the best films from last year and it's a animated western film. I'm sure before it was released people thought it wouldn't work.

Oh, it's disrespectful towards the iconic and untouchable Honest Abe.

Abe had my ancestors in chains I don't think that he was untouchable.

Insulting to whom? Psychos?

Seriously though, its just a fantasy concept with a historical figure.

Its like getting pissed because Abe Lincoln traveled to the future to help out two righteous dudes with their history report.

now I might have to write Martin Luther King Jr:Zombie Killer

I think we can all agree that this is just a rip off of Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter. :o

 Abe is a large reason why the slaves were freed. I've never heard anyone say otherwise until now.

And the idea is NOT insulting. Insulting to whom?

The south at that time? Portraying them as vampires that sucked the blood out of innocent men and women? I don't pity the South.

To Abe? Fighting against the South and trying to free people which got him killed in the end? That makes the guy a god damned superhero in my books. All this movie is doing is, via metaphor, showing how much of a HERO Abe really is. The movie isn't Abe fighting vampires unless you look at it from a VERY simplistic viewpoint - this movie is about Abe risking it all to fight the slave-owning SOUTH.

I have no doubt Abe would see the film, enjoy it, and think it was clever how they used his own real life struggles in a metaphorical way.

If it was just Abe fighting vampires with no meaning behind it - yeah, that would be insulting. But, IT'S NOT. It's Abe fighting the blood-sucking Southeners. This movie is a lot more historical/metaphorical than it is silly. And yeah, Abe? Would like it. He'd understand it.

This is coming from a Lincoln fan who was afraid it would be insulting - BEFORE reading the script and realizing how rich it really is.

Darn! It was? I went to see that movie today but I missed all the trailers that were attached to it. Ah well. Didn't take a pic of it, but on the plus side, I saw this huge standee poster for ALVH. :woot:
