Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Movie in the Works

i agree this looks like a ripoff of van helsing with lincoln in it! why hollywood why! they are makin a joke out of one of our greatest presidents! how about this one George Bush"weapons of mass destruction locator"in 3-d!

Do some research. This was a book, released in 2010, before it was a movie. Furthermore, maybe if you would read the book instead of making an assumption based on 1 minute of teaser footage you would understand it isn't intending to make a joke of a president. It takes historical events and puts a supernatural twists on them. Oh, the horror! Also, the book is nothing like Van Helsing. Way to damn a project without any substantial knowledge of it.

i think i have heard it all some guy over at IMDB page for this film says he does'nt like the trailer because it is historically inaccurate

Again, I will say the book made at least a modest effort of capturing some of the folksiness and charm of the midwest in the 19th century and the culture Lincoln grew up in. It also did a good job of capturing Poe, Antebellum New Orleans, the elderly Lincoln, etc.

The trailer seems to have thrown that out the window for a straight up action movie vision. Which is fine. One can't demand seriousness from the title. But the book's attempt at grounding the absurdity in a little history is why I found it charming.

Again, I will say the book made at least a modest effort of capturing some of the folksiness and charm of the midwest in the 19th century and the culture Lincoln grew up in. It also did a good job of capturing Poe, Antebellum New Orleans, the elderly Lincoln, etc.

Let's keep in mind that the trailer's purpose is to sell the movie. It's always possible that the film has everything you described. But FOX is definitely not gonna put that on the trailer.

Looks decent, I think the action looks great and there is nothing wrong with some good ole fashion axe killing. I think the premise is great and I enjoyed the book supremely. My biggest complaint and it will always be is that he looks nothing like Lincoln. I know its not historically accurate but at least get someone to look like him, can't just pick out any tall actor and slap a fake beard on him. I will say though thankfully they got someone who has proven himself to be a pretty good actor.

Is Poe going to be in this movie? I didn't even know he was in the book.

If he is it looks like he'll get to be in two movies this year, just like Lincoln.

I read the script, if it's anywhere close to as good as the script is - this is going to be one of THE movies of the summer. The vast majority of it is a historical drama that grounds everything in it. The trailer doesn't really focus on the dramatic and historical aspects involved. Those who read the book and liked it, probably will love the film as well.

Then again scripts can also change a lot prior to going into production, especially where a book is involved, so take this with a grain of salt. But, for those on edge from the trailer - wait - it only focused on the action. To me the heart of the film is the drama and history.

There's big set pieces - BUT the other parts, or at least in my opinion, were the best aspects of the script.

It usually depends on the draft. If I was reading one of the original drafts the company I'm at managed to get their hands on - then it might be changed a lot. Also they could have brought in "ghost writers" to work on other areas. Specs or the like are easier to judge, but book (or remake properties) are harder to judge because a lot more hands are put into them over time.

Chances are it's the same. But, I'm unsure of the details of the draft I read and where it went from there. If the draft I read though was close to final -- then yeah, this film is seriously going to kick ass since it has something for both vampire and history enthusiasts. I was kind of amazed at how grounded they made the film seem in the script. Like it could have actually happened. And I'm a Lincoln buff, numerous school reports, so that awesome.

And since no actor has been cast I think it's telling that he won't appear at all in the movie, that's a shame.

That is a real shame. Lincoln did go to New Orleans and it was a perfect place to meet him. I can only scratch my head as to why he got cut.

Is Henry's history of being on Roanoke Island in the script? That was a great twist.

It was a while since I read it, so it's going to be extremely hard for me to answer. But, we do learn A LOT about Henry's history - if I recall we also see parts of it in flash back - so I'd like to say yes. But I can't with full conviction say yes or no. I can say however we do find out about his past and his journey to where we meet in the film.

i knew it was a book and its a joke! lincoln slying vampires come on man! i rather see daniel day lewis as lincoln the way he should be! you really think its cool to mock a president with vampire ******** thats why this world is doomed!

As a Lincoln enthusiasts, I can say I thought it was a joke at first but after reading the script I found that they were very respectful. The whole vampire thing is mostly a metaphor. Vampirism is a metaphor for slavery. Vampires live off of sucking other people's blood. Land owners lived off of sucking other people's lives. It highlights just how much of a hero this guy was and the odds he was up against just in a different way of presenting it.

Lets not forget that his movie has a veteran president actor he played Andrew Jackson.
Plus hes American


(I have no doubt Daniel Day Lewis will own has Lincoln but that does bother some
