Ok I just saw the episode. It was a very good episode. Nothing amazing, but a solid episode. Alot of great action in this one.

I have to say the Black Cat sequence at the beginning, with the whole dodging the lasers was terrific. Really well choreographed scene that was.
I liked Hammerhead alot in this episode. It's amazing how this show can make you appreciate a villain a bit more when they explore them. And Hammy was the most interesting he's ever been in this episode. Although I cannot picture him and Sable as a couple.

Speaking of Sable, she was great, too. Definitely looking forward to seeing more of her. Loved seeing Kingsley. Rhino was hilarious. And Doc Ock was a pimp in his snazzy suit with his tentacles around two hot chicks at the auction. Also did anyone else notice Vulture was with him, too, at the beginning?

Loved the thing at the end with Norman Osborn.

Overall I give it an 8/10.

So Foswell wrote the article that brought Silvermane down and gave The Big Man the platform to become the major crime boss? Yeah, there's no way Foswell isn't The Big Man.

I have to wonder, was it really Roderick Kingsley at the auction? Or was it his more cowardly brother whom he often used as a decoy?

Interesting observation, I did notice at one point when under attack from Silver Sable he seemed to take a total 180 and started whining.

Okay.. I have ALOT of problems with this series. But since I don't have time to dissect the entire thing, I'll focus on this particular ep for starters.

Granted, this is a "pretty" show. The character designs and animation are very cool. But the writing leaves much too much to be desired.

First and foremost, Peter is a tool. If this were my introduction to the character, I'd really dislike him. This dance he's doing with Liz and Gwen would have been bad before. But after the Master Planner arc, it's insane. After Gwen was nearly killed, there's no way he'd not reveal his feelings to her, especially since she's made hers clear to him. And the relationship with Liz is a joke. Peter and Liz have nothing in common, which is one reason they never got together in the comics. And worse, in this series, Liz is apparently so arrogant that she assumes Peter wants to be with her, simply because she wants to be with him. Such arrogance shouldn't and wouldn't be tolerated by Peter if he were written well, especially considering all the times she's treated him like crap. And Gwen- could she be more cliche'? Just because they chose to emphasize (superficially) her science geek side (Which would be fine if it were genuine), why does she have to also be the standard shy, shrinking violet? One of her best traits in the comics was her gumption and self-confidence. This is a chick that was abducted by a 25foot creature in the Savage Land and kept her cool. She should be far more assertive here.

But onto this episode...

We start with Black Cat, who has no superhuman powers exhibiting superhuman agility, to do what exactly? What was she there to take? If the "grapevine" tipped her to the Jump Drive being there, surely they'd also have said that there was a conference of heavy-hitters there as well.

Then we have Kingsley, whose just outbid supervillains to pay 500 million bucks for the Jump Drive- and he goes to pick it up with such flimsy security? Did he really think they wouldn't try for it since they knew its whereabouts? And he does nothing to verify its authenticity? Talk about money to burn..

Peter offers to help Foswell by taking pics- And threatening to out himself- since he knows that in this situation its almost a foregone conclusion that he'll need to make an appearance as Spidey. Funny behavior since the previous ep focused on suspicions about his secret. And Foswell is some kinda reporter, not being around to see what happens. And how about that Jameson? The city is literally exploding, and he has no interest in the story? Yes, he's obsessed with Spidey. But he still knows news.

Silver Sable, who also has no super powers is not only apparently as strong as Spider-Man, but his webbing as well. I guess in this series, superhuman is merely a throwaway term. Characters with super power get knocked around by people without, and power-ups don't mean much since for example Kraven's didn't help him fair any better against Spidey than without his mutation (Which was very unKraven-like since he wants to beat Spidey using the same arsenal that served him against other more powerful creatures. He wouldn't up his powers, he'd get more cunning).

And an army of Rhinos? That's the best they could come up with? Ock works with the Rhino and participated in his creation. Now the first question is why there'd be a need for an army of him. But if he wanted to create more, he easily could. I mean he nearly took over all the world's computer systems in a manner too easy to be believed.

And for a gangster like Silvermane, calling attention to himself by having a herd of Rhinos isn't very practical. Those types like to work as far under the radar as possible.

In the overall, the character writing in the series is far too cartoony, even for a comic-based show.

About Foswell, in the comics he found out Peter's secret once and he almost found out again in "Spider-Man no More". So maybe they're setting him up to learn it here.

Just saw the episode and once again, it was a nice episode!

Silver Sable and Hammerhead used to date? LOL...I find that funny. Can't imagine them dating. Hammerhead was great in this episode. He can be a really formidable villain. I didn't even know that Hammerhead could be such a great fighter. Seeing him charge at Spider-Man and punching him with those "rings" on his hands seems so painful. Silver Sable was also great. Very acrobatic, like Spider-Man.

Nice cameo by Black Cat. Hope to see more of her.

I just have a few questions. The jump drive contains the information to build an army of Rhinos, right? Why does Doc Ock want the jump drive destroyed? Who was the guy working for Norman?

Other things that I like to add is that Doc Ock is a ladies man! LOL...I guess because of those tentacles of his.

And yet, it is easily the best writing Spidey has gotten, compared to the crap that is the 90's series, the movies, and the recent comics.

Got to agree with Gamer. It may not be great as you want or expect, but it's a whole lot better than previous Spider-Man's series.

But, I think TSSM's plot is very well done. The writing only had one major problem and that was with Eddie/Venom. Some think Eddie wasn't developed enough. But, that's a whole new topic. Overall, I think the writing is great.

Pretty weak episode.
What saved it was Hammerhead and Rhino. He was great. "Hahahahahahahaha....ah....okay". lol. Hopefully, they'll make Flowers for Rhino, someday. I'd love that.
It's so hard to decide who's my favorite, Rhino or Venom. Venom is always outdoing himself, but so is Rhino, with his funny lines and the destruction he provokes.
It was really good too to finally see Hammerhead kicking butts, by the way. He is no easy foe.
Even though it was good to have new characters, I never liked Silver Sable, and I still don't. Fortunately, Shocker will be a bigger part of the next episode, so I expect it to be better than today's.
7/10.
And it isn't 6/10 because of Norman at the end. It was good to see his evil genius.

hey hey I think his quip in the 90's cartoon is really funny and they writing for it wasn't that bad.

but yeah this episode was really fun. I like this show way more that Wolverine and the X-men

Spidey: whaoh! I got the thing on the thing what do I win?!
Rhino: You!!
Spidey: I win me! that makes no sense

ok quick question does anyone know if hammerhead and sable ever had a relationship in the comics?

Well, I was watching the episode again, and I read some comments on Youtube. Did anyone find it annoying or bothersome that Spider-Man got kicked/pushed/thrown around by a bunch of thugs (Silver Sable and Hammerhead) who have no super powers? Some people on Youtube felt that way. They thought that if Spider-Man can easily beat Kravenoff in his human form, why couldn't Spider-Man beat Silver Sable or Hammerhead?

For me, I had no problems with that. I mean, Spider-Man is not invincible. He's vulnerable to regular people, especially the ones who knows martial arts or any forms of fighting.

That's odd reading. Honestly, I was thinking in this episode that Peter is on the verge of becoming mildly unsympathetic here, because he'd clearly rather be with Gwen, but he's trying to be with Liz instead, who is acting totally in good faith.

Some people without super powers are more dangerous than other people without super powers. Sable and Hammerhead are just more dangerous individuals than Kravinoff, I think. And they are not just thugs, they are supposed to be the creme de la creme of the underworld. And besides, super powers don't make you a better fighter necessarily. Spidey may be faster, stronger and more agile, but I bet that Sable and Hammerhead have better knowledge how to fight and beat up another person.

Exactly what I thought, Rincewind. You pretty much nailed it there!

It's not like it's the first time a non super powered foe was able to fight Spidey one on one. The Kingpin did it all the time.
