I was thinking about all these movies out now that based on shows from a long time ago and I got to thinking: what shows that are on tv now do you think they will turn into a movie in like 20 years? Or a movie that has come out recently they will remake?

Oh, good topic.

I don't know about TV shows (since todays' sitcoms dont' warrant a need for a future movie adaptation IMO like "The Brady Bunch" did), but movies currently NOT remakes themselves?

When I'm older, I would like to see a possible remake of "American Werewolf in London", or just a sequel..."American Werewolf in Scotland" or "American Werewolf in _______".

I know its not "recent recent", but most movies nowadays are apart of established franchises, or are remakes already.

I actually thought this up while watching Chuck. I think that could be a possible action/comedy in 20 or 30 years.

Maybe a reinvention of Dark Angel or Firefly...

I can see The OC being revisited in twenty years as a TV movie... And it's inevitable that we'l be seeing Friends in theaters sooner or later, especially after the success of Sex And The City.

I could see The Shield getting a remake 20 some odd years from now, probably done with less success than the tv show.

I could also see Jack Bauer being recasted and put into situations that dont take place within 24 hours (or at least in real time) 20 years down the road.

I could see a Dark Angel movie happening . I am hoping they will do another Firefly movie before it becomes time for reinvention. I also think the show 24 will find or cast a different hero eventually so that it could continue.

I don't see how they could make a 24 that doesn't take place in real time. Isn't that the whole premise of the show?

it would be a bad idea for them to do that .

Because of the character Jack Bauer. If 20 years they do a Bauer movie, real time wont work because the movie is only 2 hours. What kind of threat lasts for 2 hours and needs Bauer's expertise.

..in 20 years I'll be 50 and probably won't be watching action movies anymore :csad:

Firefly needs a new movie sooner than later, but either would be great.

I actually wouldn't be too surprised to see a Law and Order or CSI movie come out in the future. They have such a large audience to pull from, it seems likely.

More than likely they'll still pull from the same pool of old stuff-just in the next 10 or 15 years once they bleed all the comic book stuff dry...it'll be The Next next Addams Family or Jeanie...makin the rounds a second time.
Bewitched will probably get made again, etc.
Cable is so gritty nowadays you can do weekly what you couldn't do back in the day in major motion picture...plus these franchies runnin concurrent takes away. By the time it's thru L&O will have the most episodes in T.V. history.

....I'm still waiting for Miami Vice II:o

None of these shows seem to have the cultural impact that the shows of the 60s and 70s that are being remade had. Most of them will be forgotten in 20 years.

I can hardly think of any that I could see being revisted/remade. Maybe The Sopranos.

I could see someone reinventing the TV show Alias for the big screen.

I don't think you'll see as many action series from today being remade in twenty years because the action series from twenty years ago were not the same. They were from the late 70's and 80's and had the corny plots, effects but interesting characters, and a lot of them were sound ideas. The A-Team was a shrewd idea. So was MacGuyver, Charlie's Angels and some of lesser known shows like Stingray. These shows could benefit from a more grounded take and a serious tone. Everything today already has the benefit of good effects and a serious tone where necessary, so they wouldn't need to be remade 20 years from now. There's no point.

I wonder if there will continue to be a seperation between action and sci-fi films especially with technology progressing the way it has.

You'd let your age dictate what movies you see? :down

Well Now they have revisiting Le Femme Nikita so in 10/20 years that might cycle back into action films

Bourne could wind up an action series on television.

I imagine 3D would have evolved to life like holograms by then. So it'd be like you're actually in the movie, surrounded by gunfire and explosions and all that :D

In 20 years I could see them giving shows like The Walking Dead and CSI an action make-over. 2 other TV shows that will probably be made into films in the future are Friends and Seinfield.
