Actors Who Have Real Talent But Got Overlooked in Hollywood

Yep, I remember him from Last of the Mohicans......and I just watched him this past week in "Comanche Moon" with my other overlooked actor Steven Zahn.

Bill Pullman - His career faded just as it was really taking off. Not sure what happened. He could do the action hero thing (Independence Day), the romantic lead (While You Were Sleeping) and be the funny man (Spaceballs). Not sure what happened. Did Lake Flaccid kill his career?
Yes:csad:

Hey, come to think of it... Christian Bale. Despite playing one of the most iconic superheroes of all time (in what has been one of the most critically acclaimed and financially successful films of the genre) and receiving praise for practically every role he's been in, the general public's reaction when you mention Christian Bale is "Who? Oh, right... the Batman guy."

I mean, his career is still in full swing, but it baffles me to some degree why he's not a household name the way inferior actors like Will Smith and Keanu Reeves are.

I think in time he will become a household name.
Will Smith and Reeves are because they've been around for so so long.
These dudes go back as far as Bill & Ted and Fresh Prince.
Bale needs time to his name.

Christian Bale has systematically kept his career as low key as possible....he does very little advertising and public appearances and that is his choice. He wants to stay understated and low key.....that's how he likes it.

True, Bale is younger than those guys, but he's actually been in the business nearly as long as they have.

I guess it just irritates me when more people out there know who hacks like Dane Cook and Jessica Alba are than one of the greatest actors of this generation. It makes me fear for the future of movies in general.

I'd like to put these down:

- Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa
- James Remar
- Billy Zane
- Treat Williams
- Michael Ironside
- William Sadler
- Michael Ironside
- Sam Elliott

They are some of my favorite actors.

Overlooked by Hollywood or by the public? Because if it's by Hollywood, there's no way in hell Bale is overlooked at all. He gets not only steady work, but quality offers.

Bale is not overlooked. He may not be as known as Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, or Arnold Schwarzenegger, but he is not overlooked. He is Batman. He is not overlooked.

this may be more of a case of actors who i think deserve more respect, than it is that they are over looked, but Thomas Jane is so good in Boogie Nights he gets my vote

Also Jeff Daniels. Dumb and Dumber AND The Squid and the Whale. That is versatile lol

I think alot of these actors that we are saying are overlooked.....have carried their careers in a manner that does that, and its on purpose. I think you could ask them, and almost 100% would say........I wouldn't have it any other way.

Fine actors.

You must like The Usual Suspects.
Absolutely.

Humble little film by a then-unknown Bryan Singer (a far departure indeed from X-Men, SR) and screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie. One of the greatest movie endings ever, and gets better after subsequent viewings.

Exactly - Actors who shoulda gotten more recognition for the quality of their work, or otherwise they'll be overlooked. And thats a real terrible shame, because there's so many fine actors out there..

and he played George Washington too!:wow: :word:

^ I agree.

Some of them might even say they're grateful that they're not under the intense spotlight, and thus makes them more believable in every role they take.

Of course other actors who no longer receive any (dramatic) acting jobs say otherwise.......

Yes and no friggin Oscar Nomination. Which he deserved waaay back when he was 12 - Spielberg's Empire of the Sun (1987).

Sad that he'll always be Zack Morris, but he was actually good in NYPD Blue and other stuff.
