Actors Who Have Real Talent But Got Overlooked in Hollywood

Yeah, but I think Laura Liney is doing it exactly the way she wants......

Yeh, Linney may not be a big mainstream name like Julia Roberts or whatever, but she's really respected and works a LOT, just usually in smaller films. But they tend to be good ones.

im going by the general audience, most people have no idea what these guys names are, they just know them as "that guy thats in tons of movies" like Steve Buscemi, who i would add to my list

Ummmmmm no. Most of general audience do know those people.

I mean Sam Jackson alone has been in Star Wars, Die Hard, Shaft, etc... Too many to list.

Just because they aren't as universally known like Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn't mean they are overlooked.

exactamente. I could hardly believe the range he has actingwise - as Luke Skywalker, The Joker. And you mention the beleaguered WWII soldier with an M1 Garand, with a haunting expression on his face as he slowly but continually shoots the same Nazi guy in a concentration camp 20 -30 times in the head ... over a span of the entire afternoon.

Other people who deserve a lot more recognition for their work:

Madeleine Stowe - The Last of the Mohicans, Twelve Monkeys, Bad Girls
MadeleineStowe.jpg

Miranda Richardson - Empire of the Sun, Fatherland, Merlin, Damage, The Crying Game
MirandaRic_Vespa_627377_400.jpg

Isabella Rosellini - Death Becomes Her, Blue Velvet, Wyatt Earp
06736.jpg

Julian Glover - Indiana Jones, Empire Strikes Back, Treasure Island
Alison Doody - Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I thought she would've had more roles after that
last-crusade-grail_1148452486-000.jpg

Nigel Havers - Dr Rawlins from Empire of the Sun; A Passage to India

Jean Claude Van Damme

LMAO!

...

I may not agree on some of what Venomfan listed, but I think I know what he was trying to get at by Sam Jackson, Morgan Freeman, Alan Rickman, Sean Bean, etc. They weren't given due recognition, and/or only won a serious award a lifetime ago (ie. Christopher Walken won his only Oscar back in '78; his most recent nomination is for his role in that musical, Hairspray, which is pathetic.....)

...

Tim Roth, I definitely agree.
Harvey Keitel
Dougray Scott - Ripley's Game, To Kill a King
Ernie Hudson - best known in the Ghostbusters, Congo. He was also in The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, Leviathan, and The Crow.

and

Michael Keaton - He still is the definitive Batman, imo. Also in Beetlejuice, Mr. Mom, Gung Ho, Multiplicity, The Paper, Live from Baghdad, and The Company miniseries. This year he's turning 57.

Speaking of another Batman, whatever happend to this kid? :p ;)

After Treasure Island, he kinda disappeared in the 90s. Now I'm glad the kid is back.
And he still deserves an Oscar...

You miss the point of this topic, but other guys have rectified it for you.

I'd like to add that you may want to consider that some of the people who have not 'hit it big' in Hollywood haven't because they chose not to, whether it be suitability, career choice variety and etc.

So it's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, fame and media exposure is proportional to acting talent anyway.

I was thinking possibly Sean Young? I thought she was awesome in Blade Runner, but I've honestly never seen anything else she's done (except Ace Ventura).

Michael-Biehn---Terminator-Photogra.jpg

He should have been huge, but I don't know what happened.

Agree.

Biehn said this a few years ago in an interview ..

"I do firmly believe that I've been overlooked, especially in "Terminator." Jim Cameron was saying to me at the time, "I don't know Michael why you are not being offered more movies now. All of us expected it, you know?" But now, five or six years later, when everyone has seen the movie five or six times on video people are beginning to realize how good it was and what a good performance it was. But I have to say I don't feel shortchanged and I don't resent anything."

Jim Caveziel- should have been huge after POTC.

LL Cool J - a far better rapper turned actor than Will Smith. It's just a matter of him getting the next role.

Charles S.Dutton- i love this guy. Well known in Hollywood as an actor, writer, director. i dunno, i just wish he was bigger.

Tommy Flanagan-this guy has probably been in ever badass movie i've ever seen, yet i didn't even know his name until i looked him up, LOL!
