I quite liked him in Gangs of New York, but i'm not really a massive fan. He's not an actor that would compel me to see a movie with him in it, although I love Scorsese which is a shame haha.

I think thats partly just because he's collaberated so much with Scorsese, and the types of movies he makes are very much oscar potentials... You're hardly gonna turn down a Scorsese film.

Brad Pitt - Maybe I believe he's been coasting along because of his looks and he's trying too hard doing that one Oscar worthy movie, he should do an action movie for once.

Russell Crowe - probably best known for his temperament than his movies.

I have to agree with these two.

As I've said in other threads, Pitt is merely an okay actor who after years and years of experience has only axchieved to be natural at most. He almost ruin Se7en with that terrible performance in his most important scene.

And Crowe is just an idiot who's allowed to do roles the way he wants to. His external tics and twitches for A Beautiful Mind were far from being a masterful performance. Can't understand how or why he and the movie won Academy Awards untill the word "Academy" gets involved in the process.

Lol I think Crowe is a fantastic actor... Think about it. We all know what an aggressive, bullying *****ebag he is, yet he still ends up being likable in films. It takes a true actor to make you forget you hate him lol.

I dunno, I still think he was awesome in Gladiator and Master and Commander... I've yet to see State of Play, but he was great in that... Oh, and The Insider. But I guess if you really hate him, then its hard to enjoy him. For me personally, I tend to disconnect from the actor and take them as the character presented on screen. I dont really care what theyre like in real life, as long as they can act.

Michael Cera. The only version of the caracter he plays that I liked was in AD, and probably because it was the best written (and he wasn't the main chaacter).

Russell crowe is one of my all time favorite actors. It's like every time he's in a movie I feel like he should be nominated. lol Watching his brilliance on screen is part of the movie experience.

A good example of that is Heath Ledger, who was constantly cracking the ****s with paparazzi, or journos. Didn't make him any less of a great actor, or hell, didn't even make him any less of a nice guy. To people like him, or Bale, acting is a chosen profession because they enjoy it, or are passionate about it as an art form.
All the white teeth smiling uber friendly *****ebags of Hollywood HAVE to be nice and smiley, because they can't act to save themselves and popularity is all they have to keep them in a job.

Yeah, I remember seeing Zac Efron accept some award for his role in Hairspray and thought that he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Doesn't mean I'll ever have an interest in seeing any of his movies, though.

However, an actor like Bale, Crowe or Ledger... despite how they may have come across at times to the public... are (or were) very talented and I'd gladly give any of their films a shot.

See, i'm not a massive Tom Cruise fan, but I don't think he's been given a substantial role in a long time. The last thing i liked him in was the Last Samurai... I hated his tropic thunder cameo... He looked way too much like a wacko lol

^^ Well as far as i'm concerned, they're being paid to act, and help film-makers tell a story, and the better they do that, the less I care about how they live their life. I find i only get judgemental about actors when I dont feel they're talented enough to be in work, then I start going "Why the hell is this guy getting paid a million bucks to do this when all he's doing is playing himself in a period costume?"

Ashley Greene is the best thing about the Twilight movies.

To be fair, there are a lot of talented actors in the Twilight movies, but the material is so bad not even Gary Oldman could save it.

Steve Carrell-I loved this guy in 40 Year Old Virgin. Recently he hasn't impressed me. Date Night looks decent, so I'm holding out for that.

to be fair, I admire Steve Carrell because he stayed with The Office.

He could have went on to other things, but he stayed. I think other people in his position would split (Katherine Heigal) and I really think it's because of his age and expereince in the biz.

He has more warmth than some of other collages, like Will Ferrell.

I also think Ashley Greene who plays Alice is pretty good too, she seems to be the person in the films trying along with Lautner.
