The Force Awakens Adam Driver as Kylo Ren

Sounds like we have a person who LOVES the dark side unlike we ever had. Maybe he was naturally dark unlike Anikin who was supposed to be good and turned. Kylo sounds like he is doomed to the dark but was born to good parents.

Thats what im seeing too. I see him growing darker and more dangerous as each movies progresses. I dont want another redemption story. Let Ren bask in his darkness

By the way, Kylo was kneeling while waiting for Rey to wake up. I thought that was weird and out-of-character, why would he kneel in front of her? And he said "You're my guest" in a gentle voice too. Am I missing something here?

You think they could really leave him dark to the end? Wonder how things would end for Leia if that happened.

I don't think they'll leave him completely "dark" until the end. He'll have a whole redemption film (unlike Vader who only had a few minutes in ROTJ) in Ep.9 and in the end understand that true power comes from self sacrifice and will do so to protect Rey or Leia while still maybe using anger as a weapon.

He'll die understanding self sacrifice but incapable of completely letting go of the dark side in terms of combat and drive.

I think we'll actually get to see his face a bit more in the next two films. I feel as an actor that's something Driver may even want.

Im not so sure, he has that whacking great scar across his face now that Rey gave him, he actually has a good reason for wearing a mask now.

[blackout]Kylo-Ren/Ben solo is basically the Amalgam of the expanded universe character of Jacen Solo who became Darth Caedus, only difference is in the film he's called Ben Solo. Ben was the name of Luke & Mara's son in Expanded Universe. [/blackout]

That would work.

But is it something the viewers would want? I feel the mystery of a Sith Lord is impacted by too many reveals. I thought it was right for him to take his mask off when meeting Han but 2 in one film (and one early on) is too much for a new major villain for me. If Vader had unmasked twice in the first film I don't think he would have ascended to the status he got to, and the 'I am your father' line would have been less impactful too if we'd seen his human side too early.

Yeah, I feel like dark side users need masks to retain their cool factor unless they have a freakish, alien look like Maul or (ROTJ) Sidious.

I hope he starts transforming into his creepy ass concept art then

Agreed, Maul, Revan, Vader, Malak, Malgus, Nihilus, Krayt all have a mysterious and unique look to them. Which might explain why everyones a bit "meh" on Snoke at the moment.

Well, for that to happen, he'll need to take a lot more physical damage.

I haven't seen this. Can you link me please? :yay:

Oh ****. Thanks!

He would certainly need to take on a hell of a lot of injuries for this to happen. I don't necessarily want exactly the above but hope for a huge change. He looked fine in his initial mask in the TFA but if he is going to be THE huge Sith Lord of this trilogy I think we will be getting some big visual changes by the time he bows out.

There is tons of developmental concept "Jedi Killer" stuff in the Art Of book.

He did take a slash right across his face though by Rey, at least it looked like it. I directly thought of that new villain from THe Old Republic expansion that has a mask that covers half his face.

So after a third watch, Kylo really underestimates Rey at the beginning of the fight. A lot of one handed saber use and twirling. He goes easy on her and she goes on to own him.

He is going to be pretty pissed by VIII.

Man I love this character. Absolute silence at the IMAX when he killed Han.

Not sure if this has been posted....
