He’s played the President who saved the world twice in the Independence Day movies and now Bill Pullman will play a Vice-President in Adam McKay’s film about Dick Cheney.

With Christian Bale set as the controversial and Darth Vader nicknamed 46th VP in what is now being called Backseat, Pullman will play Nelson Rockefeller in the pic. As well as a frequent would-be Presidential candidate, the scion of one of America’s richest families served as Governor of New York for 14 years and as Gerald Ford’s VP. It was in that last role that Rockefeller sparred often with Ford’s Chief of Staff, one Richard Cheney.


The Annapurna backed filmed from The Big Short director also stars Steve Carell as two-time defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney.

Sam Rockwell is joining Christian Bale in Cheney, Adam McKay’s biopic of former vice president Dick Cheney.


Rockwell is in final negotiations to add his name to the call sheet that already includes Steve Carell, Amy Adams and Bill Pullman for the drama from Annapurna.
Bale is portraying Cheney in the story of him avoiding military serve in the Vietnam War, his rise to CEO of the multinational corporation Halliburton, to finally becoming what some have called as the most powerful vice president ever to hold that office.
Carell is Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld while Adams is Cheney’s wife, Lynne Cheney.


Rockwell will play Cheney’s boss, president George W. Bush, who steered the nation through the attacks of 9/11, the events that allowed Cheney to exercise his power when it came to fighting terrorism.
The project is aiming for a production start later in September.
Producing are McKay and his Gary Sanchez Productions partners Will Ferrell and Kevin Messick. Brad Pitt and Dede Garner are also producing via their Plan B label.

The Practice alumna LisaGay Hamilton has landed the role of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, in Annapurna’s Adam McKay-helmed Dick Cheney biopic, which has Christian Bale and Amy Adams attached to star.

The film details the career of Dick Cheney, from Halliburton CEO to the most power Vice President in history. Rice served the 20th National Security Advisor in President George W. Bush’s first term and the 66th U.S. Secretary of State during Bush’s second term.


McKay and his Gary Sanchez Productions partners Will Ferrell and Kevin Messick are producing along with Brad Pitt and Dede Garner via their Plan B label.
Hamilton recently wrapped on three projects; sci-fi film Ad Astra opposite Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones, Beautiful Boy with Steve Carell, and the war drama The Last Full Measure, with Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, and Bradley Whitford. She is repped by APA and Greenlight Management.

Actually she was his audition partner for Batman Begins too. She read the part of Rachel. In retrospect, even though Rachel isn't a great role, I think we would have all been better off if she had played the part (she wasn't a "name" in 2004, as hard as that is to remember). That includes Amy since these Lois Lane movies have not turned out how I think she had hoped.
