Adam McKay to take on Dick Cheney in “Vice” (Bale, Adams, Rockwell)

I'm loving the tone, and all the performers look fantastic as expected. Great make-up job.

They got it. Haha.

I'm curious on what scale of sympathetic/unsympathetic the portrayal of Cheney will fall.

This could be a good double feature with Oliver Stone's W.

This looks great, similar to Big Short. I doubt they will make Cheney sympathetic at all.

Of course he will at moments sympathetic because they're portraying him as a human being. It's not so much we agree with him, but the movie might give some insight to why he is the way he is.

Rockwell really nailed the mannerisms and cadence of Bush!

Bale is one crazy son of a ***** for what he’s done to his body throughout his career.

That part kind of goes without saying, though. Guy's an old-timey 20th century national security type who's seen how *****ty the world is, how it actually works as opposed to how it should theoretically on-paper. The "Evil Cheney" schtick was always beyond lazy. He's just an old cold-war-dog, like Bush Sr., you need those types in government in times of crisis too.

McKay's probably smarter than to go the "b-b-but OIL!" small-minded route, but time will tell I guess.

And holy crap, Rockwell seems awesome here as Dubya.

That's a really well made teaser. Great music.

Probably demonization, IIRC the crux and intent of of The Big Short was WHY WEREN'T THESE TERRIBLE PEOPLE ARRESTED, THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and with the Cheneys easy and popular to do the same thing. I think Bale tends to be pretty judgmental of the characters he plays and in general.

How so? That's not how an actor of Bale's caliber plays a role. He finds the heart within. I don't think I've seen any of his roles that weren't in some way or another sympathetic at some point. Even American Psycho has moments where Bateman is so annoyed at Leto over lunch and we as an audience can empathize for just a few moments.

Man, I haven't listened to anything new by the Killers in a while, awesome.

This looks like it's more in my wheelhouse than The Big Short was, which I didn't really care for. At least the wigs look better.

Yeah same, I hope it's better than The Big Short.

I just saw a "they're making him out to be a rockstar instead of a war criminal!" take, and I feel like I'm having a Vietnam flashback, except in this case, Vietnam is the audience response to The Wolf of Wall Street.

Man. That's a well crafted trailer. This looks like the third Oscar contender

First Man
A Star Is Born
Vice

-Bale with maybe a nomination for Amy Adams and first time one for Steve Carrell

-Bradley for best director and actor with Lady Gaga getting her first acting nomination

-Gosling for best actor and Claire Foy getting her first nomination

I think the unsympathetic parts will be Cheney and the heart attacks(sounds like a band)

Carrell’s been nominated before I think? For Foxcatcher...

Watched this trailer a couple more times this morning-- Easily jumped up to being one of my most anticipated upcoming movies.

Great teaser - I'm excited. I'm not just looking forward to Christian Bale's performance as Cheney, but also Sam Rockwell as dubya. The few scenes we saw with Rockwell were great.

we may not like it but Cheney is what we needed at that time I think everyone can agree a whole lot of people were wrong on the Iraq war but politics aside wow at Rockwell that guy can go and playing opposite of Bale
were are in for a treat no idea Carrel was in this can't wait
