I thought this was one of the best movies of 2018. It was like a sister movie to The Big Short, which is my favorite Adam McKay film. Bale is great in this movie. Seriously, he just was Dick Cheney. I think the movie gave Cheney some humanity, but the film overall is not flattering to the man. I am going to leave my personal feelings for Cheney aside, but I love that McKay in this and The Big Short explains the bigger concepts in great detail. Overall, much like The Big Short, fantastic film, but one that you don't leave the theater entirely happy or in a good mood. But that is the desired effect.
McKay I think is one of my favorite directors at the moment.
