AFI: Spider-Man 3

Is anyone listening? I know Venom4Life is probablly just doing that on purpose to make fun of me, but what are everyone else's excuses?

This isn't about random bands, discuss AFI for SM3...I hate when people hijack my threads.

"Leaving Song Pt. 2" is the only AFI song I know. I like that song.

The sky is blue. Puppies. Tony Romo.

So What! by Metallica for Venom's debut!! :oldrazz:

\m/ \m/ :D

The doors and that song is the sex, but I dont think incest and murder are themes suited for SM3 though.

Somebody mentioned metallica earlier, and I instantly thought that "Fade to Black" would be pitch perfect for the whole Venom/Brock ordeal

Only if it's used in the beginning, while Peter's in his room, in the black suit, drunk as s**t, narrating that he needs to get back on a mission while doing wierd ass martial arts. :o

:woot:

That was me. And too bad "Fade to Black" is about suicide.

I'd rather they just kept to a score for stuff like Venom's debut. I'd let out a huge "ugh.." if they attached some crappy song to it. Any song that's already known well would remove the timelessness to the film. It's okay with new songs, because then you're like "oh, that's the song that was in Spidey 3".

And AFI.. blech.

I'm sure a lot of people are discussing the bands that can do the theme song for SM3 or what songs that could be it. But I think that AFI should do the theme song.

Listen to the song "Killing Lights", I can try to explain how it could relate to SM3:

"Five A.M. on the bathroom floor from the night before.
Do you find me dreadful?
What a shame such a sad disgrace,
Such a pretty face,
But she's not regretful."

When MJ met Venom in the comics she freaked out was hiding and scared and stuff. And most likely MJ will ruin into him in the movie, and probablly at home. So the lyrics would be almost like Brock talking saying "do you find me dreadful" in a sarcastic way.

"It's killing time again.
Put on your face and let's pretend,
These killing lights won't kill us all again."

And the chorus, it would refer to Venom and Sandman or Gobby. Because you put on your "face" your mask...and go out "to kill". A figurative mask or the actual masks they wear.

They would probablly just make a new song for the movie, but I think they should be the ones to do it.

AFI sucks, why can't we have just one spidey movie with just the theatrical music. Thats all we need, it's great and always sets the mood. I love the movies to death and there only down fall is the crappy soundtrack (not counting the theatrical score of course). The only bad part about Spidey 1 was Macy Grey, although I did enjoy the Hero song... the first hundred times I heard it. Anyway, NO AFI! Aren't they an Emo band?

I agree 100% with what everything you've just posted, I prefer the theatrical movies over all the emo garbage that's been tagged to the films for some strange reason. I swear to God, if I see a trailer with Peter walking down a sidewalk, "Why did this happen to me...blah blah blah" i'll puke.

Theatrical score all the way.

AMEN!

Sorry to burst your bubbles, guys, but AFI is inexcusably bad. Pairing ****ty metal/emo/alternative bands to promote comic book movies almost always turns out bad. "Hero" was SO annoying (I hate Nickelback, anyway) and then there was that ridiculous Evanescence or whatever they're called song for "Daredevil." Thank God they didn't do that to any of the X-Men films or "Batman Begins."

The biggest offense was getting that b*tch Madonna to do the theme of "Die Another Day." That was probably one of the foretelling factors that spelt the Bond series' doom. At least we have "Casino Royale" now.

I agree. The Batman Begins score was excellent. The Crow was the only good comic book movie soundtrack.

Hero could have been played for any superhero movie. That's why it sucked.

they should use Bathory when Venom pops up
that would be a scream for me, hehe

I saw AFI perform at the MTV Video Awards, and my reaction was basically this:

Chandler voice: "Could they be any more emo?"

I'd like to hear Billy Talent's "River Below" in SM3.

OMFG everything is emo now!!!!?!?!? WTf AFI isn't emo. If you listen to their music and knew what the songs were about you wouldn't hear anything emo. Sure, some of the songs can be emotional, but they're not "emo". I guess classical music is emo because some of it can make you cry, or feel other emotions....

Emotion does not equal emo, folks. Emo is this crappy label that everyone is attaching to everything. And EVEN IF you were right, even if that were true and they are this "emo" band, then what would that have to do with the quality of their music?

People don't know what they're talking about and "emo" is like what "gay" was to some. Instead of saying "dude, that's so gay" because it's politically incorrect, people are now saying "Screw that!! It's emo or something" When you should only speak of the quality instead of some stupid label that won't even exist in like 5 years. hell it didn't even really exist 5 years ago.

And venom4life, you're mean. I used to look up to you. You were my hero.

AMEN! Hell, I'd take Chris Young's copycat music over any band that has guys who try to imitate anime haircuts in real life.

is the tobey on the far right lol jk

many bands are judged/ Defined by their hair

Vanilla Ice
Bob marley
Guns and Roses
Twisted sisters
the beatles
Kid & Play
flock of seagulls

so to the last poster.. don't be waiving a finger and defending a business which has effected people's hair styles for years

edit* AFI is pretty emo... but whatev I like dashboard confessionals

Ha! your judging a band on their hair? how lame are you...

Usually emo's have that kind of crappy anime style hair, so yes, yes I am.

I was listening the beginning of "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance today, and this sounds kind of corny, but I thought about how that would sound as a Venom song and it gave me the chills.
