Death on the Nile' will be the next Agatha Christie novel to be adapted for the big screen. After first taking the train, Twentieth Century Fox is now readying to hop on a riverboat cruise.
On the heels of Murder on the Orient Express, Fox is staying in the Agatha Christie business by putting into development Death on the Nile, its next Hercule Poirot mystery.

Michael Green, who wrote Orient Express, is penning the script and while there is no deal currently in place, Kenneth Branagh is expected to return as director and reprise his role as Poirot.

Nile, first published in 1937, saw the detective on a vacation in Egypt and becoming involved in a love triangle gone murderously bad. The novel once again featured socialites, social climbers and high society’s help in the cast.
Just as Orient Express had been adapted into an all-star 1970s movie featuring Peter Ustinov as Poirot, so too was Nile. The 1978 movie featured Bette Davis, Mia Farrow, Maggie Smith, Angela Landsbury and David Niven, among others. The story remains one of Christie’s most popular works.
Orient Express, which was made for $55 million, has choo-chooed its way to almost $150 million worldwide since its Nov. 10 opening.
The movie was produced by Branagh as well as Ridley Scott, Mark Gordon, Simon Kinberg, Judy Hofflund and Michael Schaefer.
Steve Asbell is overseeing for Fox.
Green, who co-created the American Gods televisions show, also worked on Logan and Alien: Covenant for Fox. He also wrote Blade Runner: 2049.

Branagh has basically jumped from doing PBS masterpiece "Wallander" to movie level Masterpiece theater with "Poirot" lol

I really liked his take on Murder on the Orient Express. It was a solid film. Looking forward to this.

Branagh has finalized a deal to return to direct and star, which now has a November 8, 2019 release date.

The article in the OP is a bit behind - MOTOE has grossed $350m WW to date.

That's amazing for a $55M budgeted film. More mid-range franchises are welcome.

Branagh was excellent in MOTOE. His performance was magnetic. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing him again in his next big screen adventure as Poirot.

Now here’s a franchise I can get behind, big budget Poirot movies. Yes, please.

Would be cool if they could make a dozen films after the first one.

Yeah, the last one was very well done.

Would it feature a big cast as well? I don't want to watch the previous adaptations/source material so I would have no clue about the entire story of this.

I haven't read it, but a quick look at the Wikipedia synopsis shows that it's also a big ensemble production.

Nice! I enjoyed Branagh's Poirot quite a bit.

I thought Branagh captured the atmosphere perefectly with 'Murder on the Orient Express' so I am interested to see what he can do with this one as I've seen the Ustinov version many times.

I read elsewhere that Gal and The Rock were going to film their movie early next year. I hope she doesn't drop out of that one.
