How would she be undercover. Shield didn't know about Hydra until they were revealed. I doubt they had a recruitment drive afterwards.

Think she's more likely to become disillusioned and turn on Hydra.

.... what do you mean "HOW?" they said last season many hydra agents didn't know who other hydra agents were... she could be a double agent saying she turned on shield, but did not. She could have also just simply said she was a hydra agent... it's a spy show, it's all about double and triple agents.

She might be undercover for someone else. SHIELD isn't the only federal agency in the MCU. If you remember at the end of Cap 2, Sharon Carter joined the CIA.

this as well. there's also MI6 and loads of other intelligence agency's in the MU

I think whoever in Hydra that was in a position to make her head of their security would know who's a Hydra agent and who isn't.

She could be a CIA agent I guess. But if they knew of the existence of Hydra why would they let them build hellicarriers that would give them control of the world?

She could be working for herself. Was offered the chance to join Hydra while a Shield agent and said yes to find out what they were about.

We'll see.

Seems like another good looking bland character. (I know that's unfair as it's only one episode).

At least Ward is going mental. Have high hopes that he might turn out interesting. Although telling Skye how he's tried to kill hiself just came across as a bit needy.

Well Ward was never committed to the cause, just Garrett. Once he lost that and was cooped up in solitary the only thing he could really cling to was his feeling for Skye and the hopes that if he plays ball he can connect to her in some way. I hope they keep him mental and have him want revenge for killing his father figure/mentor. The last thing I want to see is a redemption arc from him. Not for a long while at least. Would be kind of cool if he escapes somehow and we have a POV from a bad guy in the show and their perspective

We know it has been a while since the events of season finale and we also know that Coulson has been trying to recruit non-stop. So she could have been placed by Coulson a while ago. Or she was always loyal to SHIELD and found herself in a position too dangerous to expose her true intentions so she played ball and then turns on them when she has the chance. There are several options for how they can use her. I doubt Coulson would want anyone that willingly worked for Hydra on the team no matter how disillusioned they become but I could be wrong.

She could have become disillusioned after the whole hellicarier thing and got in contact with Coulson.

All we know is at somepoint she will be one of the good guys.

... she's hydra security... there's a big chance she's undercover with brown hair. don't fret too much
I'm okay with brown hair. Its the folks on this other site that seem to think this is tantamount to drastic character change, especially when she hasnt been blonde for a while.

They didn't know they were thoroughly infiltrated.

Again I just don't feel Coulson would want someone who was Hydra and then just decided they don't like it anymore. Everyone who has been shown to be Hydra in the MCU was outright evil, including Ward even though he was more about Garrett than the Hydra cause. Like I said we do know that Coulson has been out recruiting almost non-stop trying to bolster the ranks and it's much more likely that she was recruited early and then infiltrated Hydra. We shall see come next week though

So she infiltrated Hydra and got promoted to their head of security in a couple of months? I don't buy it.
If she did, why would they have to find out from Ward how Hydra communicate?

Multiple reasons, in deep cover most agents don't risk contacting their handlers or communicating with the other agencies for fear of blowing their cover. They check in very little over the course of the mission. We also don't know how long it has been between the finale and the opener of this season. Hydra is an organization that moves quickly and when someone is constantly proving themselves they can rise in the ranks quickly. Just because she is listed as head of security doesn't necessarily mean for all of Hydra alhtough it could. Again you may be right but I just don't see Coulson doing that but I could be wrong

I don't know, its not like Hydra has been having the best of times either. There's probably been a *lot* of shakeup and "job openings" in the past several months. Combine that with the fact that the main people who handled the actual Hydra infiltration of SHIELD are dead? Sounds like an opening to have a "disgruntled SHIELD agent" side with Hydra under false pretenses.

Yeah, and not only that, Hydra also has to worry about its competing factions trying to outdo each other, creating internal warfare. So far we've seen several major Hydra factions in the MCU: Alexander Pierce's group (now defunct), John Garret's group (now defunct), Daniel Whitehall's group, and Baron Wolfgang von Strucker's group. The different groups have similar goals and philosophies, but each has its own methods and priorities, and each faction has leaders who want to have all the power for themselves. Competing rivalries among the different factions of Hydra will inevitably be a drain on Hydra's resources.

Well said. It's kind of like buying into a franchise, even though it's the same company they are run individually with similar goals under the same guiding philosophy. Hydra won't be unified until Red Skull comes back and even then they will still maintain their own identities

Do we even know how long Bobbi Morse has been in deep cover inside of Hydra?

I don't need the concept of the Lifestone Tree. This idea of power gems being scattered around that people want to possess...that's too similar to what is going on in the films. I could see them doing that though.

I'd love it if this was a Kree object HOUSING one of the Infinity Gems...but I dont think the films would allow the tv show to introduce something that would be used in Avengers 3. Plus...does one of the Infinity Gems hold the secret to death??? I don't think so.

Speaking of which...does anyone have the exact quote from the beginning that hinted at the obelisk's power??? Maybe it is what gave Kraken the ability to still be relatively youthful after all those years?

I don't think I need to remind you that the clock is ticking.

We are almost finished loading. Herr Reinhardt, I-I fear Schmidt...

Oh, there's no reason left to fear the Red Skull, he's dead. However, his vision is not. The work Hydra has done will live on. The Obelisk?

They are bringing it out now.

Carefully, I hope.

I don't understand, I thought this stockpile held only artifacts?

Not everything we dug out of the ground was an antique, my friend. Some of it was quite advanced.

Is this the reason these men...?

Hmm? Ja. The Red Skull said it may hold the answer. The answer to death itself.

Thanks Silvermoon!

So, they dug it out of the ground? Does that mean that blue alien had been crashed for a long time too, or was he new? Eh...I guess we'll get the answers to the mysteries when they decide to give them to us.

I definitely see Kraken as being true to his comics character in that he wants to evolve people into their "true being" or whatever. That would connect him to Strucker and his mission without Strucker needing to get bogged down in what Kraken is doing. This would also tie him to Skye and her father, and the blue alien stuff. So, I see Kraken being the big bad for the immediate future, but ultimately just another ink in the chain of the larger story (as a tv series kind of has to do to keep moving).

I'll add that I'm stunned that they cast the role of Alphonso Mackenzie, and no one stopped to think "wait...this guy really should be Luke Cage instead!"

Do you guys think they'll introduce Baron in this show before AOU?

They probably already have someone in mind for Luke Cage, someone who is younger than Henry Simmons (who is 43).

Do you guys think they'll introduce Baron in this show before AOU?

No. Much like last season and Cap 2, I think that this year's plot will enhance the plot of Avengers 2, without being necessary viewing. Therefore, we could reasonably assume that the twins were a part of what Kraken was doing, but they wont really mention the events of the tv show in the movie. It would be a cool addition to have Kraken speak with Baron though, just to link the two closer.
